Is there documentation somewhere about how to link the two programs. As I understand it PhotoPost uses the phpbb database but where do I point to it? I have PhotoPost installed and running and now want to add phpBB.

Michael P,

Can you elaborate on how to integrate phpBB2 themes with the Classifieds and ReviewPost products. Many would like to know and I/we cannot find any documentation on this topic.

Thank you,
Oliver

I also use phpBB2 with subBlack Template. I want to be sure that I can use this template on the Gallery without being a php/html whatever guru. It is really important that it looks apart of our forums and web site....

Are you able to set private Galleries? By that I mean, Creating a Gallery Section that a group of members can only see and upload to? I mean *Private*, you can not even see the Gallery Title unless you have access....

Also, are there any Demos that have this product working with a phpBB forum?

I am currently using a phpBB Photo MOD that works darn well but it lacks any kind of notification either visual [There are X new Photos] or my email. I assume this product does either one of these or perhaps both [for new comments too].

Odie

The Photopost Integration for phpBB, Ubbthreads, VB3, IBP and IBP2 use CSS Integration. Meaning if the modifications are based on CSS wrapping images around tables then the look should be the same. However note we do not use the templates of those forums so if there is a HARD CODED template modification you would need to adjust our ppopen or ppclose templates.

Now alot of times if you have some CSS that is not looking just right it can be solved by editing the forum CSS and making the image url's full url's not relative ones. This of course assumes your issue is CSS

If you PM me a url to your board and admin login I can take a peek and give you some hints on what specifically your issue is.

As far as Demo's those sites rotate so I don't know what demo's there are but if you do an Internet Search on Powered by Photopost I am sure you will find Photopost integrated with phpBB. I have done lots of installs with phpBB.

Well, my fourm is here:

http://ghostdogs.net/bb/

Not sure why you need admin login in..... Anycase, yes the template for my phpBB [SubBlack] uses a css file. I do not know a lot about this file but I have "tweaked" it before.

You can take a look at my site, it is very heavly MOD'ed with phpBB Mod's. It is not very standard at all. While I do not know how to Code, I do know how to read install.txt files and look for help when I run into problems.

Chuck S October 10th, 2004 10:35 AM

Well your issue is very easy.

Your CSS has images tags as I stated before. Your image paths are relative as can be seen below. Edit that stylesheet and make the image paths full url's so Photopost can find those images

Code:

Content visible to verified customers only.

Omegatron,

I've been struggling to integrate ReviewPost and Classifieds into my forum without the desired results thus far. Perhaps you can offer some advice?

The forum I'd like to achieve the intergration with is at:
http://www.bayareakiteboarding.com/phpbb2/

Links to the Reviews and Classifieds sections can be found at the top. Any help and adice would be appreciated!

Oliver

Chuck S October 10th, 2004 02:34 PM

Advice is the same as above nothing different

Viewing your stylesheet source you have relative url's etc to images.

There is nothing more for me to comment on as your not using forum integration for me to comment further but I think correcting your image paths may solve your issue.

BAK October 11th, 2004 10:24 PM

Ok, now I am using forum integration and everything shows up perfectly under the admin menu, however the text is not right in all the main tables everywhere else, and the alignment of some of the header images is off.

This holds true for both:

http://bayareakiteboarding.com/ads/
http://www.bayareakiteboarding.com/review/

If you look at the forum http://www.bayareakiteboarding.com/phpBB2/ you can see how they're not matching up.

I have also tried not using the forum integration by way of uploading my phpBB .css file to the /review and /ads stylesheet directories (http://bayareakiteboarding.com/revie...ubsilversh.css) and changing the relative url's to full url's for the images, however after repeated attempts and verification of the url's I did not have any luck getting the images to show up properly. What did happen then, however, is all the text was rendered correctly.

Using Forum Integration = Incorrectly rendered text & strange image behaviors

Selecting .css file and changing url's = Proper text, but no images

I am really having quite a bit of trouble here. :( Any help would be appreciated. :)

I don't quite follow you here.

I see nothing wrong when I go to each product. The only issue I see if not misaligning images yet gradients which are in use in the indexhead template that are too small to use in our product.

The only problem I see on the page is that one area where "Welcome to the Bay Area Kiteboarding Reviews!" is at which is the index head template

You can get rid of the double gradient calls by editing your phpbb2.php file and changing this line

$Style['menubarnb'] = "cat";

to

$Style['menubarnb'] = "";

BAK October 12th, 2004 07:38 PM

The problem is that http://www.bayareakiteboarding.com/phpBB2/index.php and http://www.bayareakiteboarding.com/review/ (or http://www.bayareakiteboarding.com/ads/) bear little resemblance to one another despite the forum integration "feature". I've spent quite a bit of time trying to work this out.

Chuck S October 13th, 2004 09:36 AM

The forum integration is only CSS integration. Looking at your header they look different cause you have different html. Still is up to the customer to put whatever html they want around photopost to make it look more like their forum.

As an example you want to add this at the top of your header of what you have already in reviewpost etc

<table class="bodyline" width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0">
<tr>
<td>

and in your footer at the end of reviewpost

</td>
</tr>
</table>

BAK October 13th, 2004 07:20 PM

I'm aware of the header and footer details, that's easy enough to change.

"The forum integration is only CSS integration."

And unfortunately it's not working in this case. Have you any idea why the text is not being rendered the same?

Chuck S October 13th, 2004 07:37 PM

I have no idea what you are talking about. It looks quite fine to me. The text looks the same to me.

If your talking about the italic description on classifieds on the showcat script that is part of classifieds. You can alter that template and remove the italic tag. The CSS integration is seamless when I look here

http://www.bayareakiteboarding.com/ads/

You only need to add the header and footer html I told you above to get that white box which is normal phpbb look.

Only thing I would ask if you have tried altering your reviewpost phpbb2.php file as your tdnothumbs style is not showing.

$Style['tdnothumbs'] = "catHead";
$Style['menubar'] = "cat";

That is in that file and all I see on reviews is a white part.

http://www.bayareakiteboarding.com/reviews

If I do a base install of reviewpost with phpbb it doesnt look like yours.

You issue could be caused in reviewpost if the stylesheet your using does not have that class which would be NON STANDARD from phpBB and see below.

PS. I looked closer at your install and your running a forum we DO NOT support or claim to support.

Powered by phpBB2 Plus 1.52 and Hostinginfo based on phpBB 2.0.10 2001, 2002 phpBB Group

Your lucky things work for the most part but from a support standpoint I don't know what to say as we do not support integration with phpBB2 Plus.

We support the following forums

UBBThreads, VB2, VB3, IPB 1, IBP2, phpBB2, DCForums+,IkonBoard, Nuke, Postnuke and soon to be supported Simple Machine Forums.

BAK October 16th, 2004 01:23 PM

Fair enough. Thanks for all your help. If you could please indulge me with one last question. Yes http://www.bayareakiteboarding.com/ads/ looks good. Now the last problem I have is at http://www.bayareakiteboarding.com/review/ where I'm getting an unwanted gradient image in this table where it reads: "Kites
Reviews of kites - LEI, Foil, Trainer, etc." How to eliminate that?

Thanks!
Oliver

Chuck S October 16th, 2004 07:30 PM

Actually it is not an unwanted gradient. There is suppose to be a gradient there when you mark a cat as not having thumbs. I always turn off the show post counts for categories without thumbnails in the admin options so there is a full line gradient bar which is desirable.

In fact when I view your sight you have somehow altered the css to take out that gradient of the phpbb plus does not have a catHead class

<td width="45%" class="catHead" align="left">

<table width="100%" border="0">
<tr> <td class="catHead" width="15">
&nbsp;
</td> <td>
<b><span class="genmed">
<a href="http://bayareakiteboarding.com/review/index.php?cat=2">Kites</a></span></b><br /><span class="gensmall">Reviews of kites - LEI, Foil, Trainer, etc.</span>
</td>

That area is white to me and should have the gradient so you might want to undo whatever you did.
