User-created subdirectories independent of max upload limit

The gallery is located here:
www.scionlife.com/gallery

This is a fairly large site with thousands of members and I have been putting off the gallery for too long. I just installed PhotoPost and it seems to be working just fine... but I am a little disappointed with the documentation and the small details of the software. Things just don't seem to be intuitive at all for me. BUT it does seem to be working just fine.

My question is this:

I have two areas in the forums. One is the member gallery area which is limited for regular members to 400Kb each, more for premium members. That part seems to be working just great so far.

The second area is the events area. I want members to be able to create a subfolder in this area and upload an unlimited number of photos without affecting their personal maximum. Is this possible? I can't even figure out how to create a subfolder without resorting to admin controls...

Have you read the manual on Photopost yet granted always room for inprovement?

Now as events area. You can use the members allowed to assign albums to cat's feature for this. You create a personal album and add pictures etc. You can edit the album and assign it to a category.

Only an admin can create categories and subcategories.

Ahh... one of my next questions was going to be about that "Assign albums to cats" option. I couldn;t find the documentation for that feature in the manual. Can you point me to the exact location in the manual that explains that feature?

There is no documentation on this? C'mon guys!

New feature not in the manual

1. Enable albums

2. Create some personal albums

3. Use album admin and edit your album

4. you will see features to give it a thumbnail and assign it to a cat etc

Ummm... a few posts up you suggested that I use the "assign albums to cats" feature... but I don't know what it means or how it works. If there is no documentation can you please provide a short description of it's function?

Enable albums and assign to cats in usergroup settings

create albums in album admin

edit your albums and you will see the stuff I am talking about

I am not using Albums right now... I have been creating new categories for each event. I want to understand what I am doing before I start changing things around... can you please take a look at the way that I AM doing it and perhaps suggest a better way?

Well I suggest you enable albums and only enable you admin as able to do them and do some testing to see how albums work making some and seeing how they are displayed etc and see what works best for you.

In options I enabled personal albums, then in usergroups I made sure only admins and mods could create albums and assign albums to cats.

Now I revisit my gallery and can't seem to find any changes... nothing. Did I screw it up when I redesigned the gallery to fit my layout? I am lost...

I could not begin to tell you. You obviously modified your code so I dont know what you have done actually.

Since you have modified your code from the regular code I can't comment too much there. If personal albums are enabled you should have an album admin link on the normal photopost menubar.

I notice you redesigned your menu bar - this is where you would see a ALBUM ADMIN selection for a user to manage their personal albums. You might need ot check your code to see how to add that button to your custom menu.
