Licensing question

Is photoPost and VBGallery hold 2 diffrent licenses or is it one and the same?

more to the point :
can I use VBGallery on one domain and PhotoPost on another?

The license is the same for either one but you can only install one product for one license meaning you can not own one license and install both pieces of software.

I have a license for both Photopost Pro & vBGallery.

I have an active subscription currently for vBGallery.

I want to switch from vBGallery to Photopost Pro but can't download it.

How do I get the files I need?

It's my understanding that I should be able to use either, just not at the same time?

Well Regs this would depend on your license type.

If you have an old vbGallery license that was purchased either at vbadvanced or when we first got it when it was priced at 59.00 then you can not download Photopost Pro.

It is only customers whom have obtained the software at full price which was right before the merge and on forward can use either. The merge email we sent out had all the details on who was entitled to what.

You would simply renew members access to your other license for $39.00

Actually you can use both at the same time on the same domain if you wish. They are two different products.

The good thing you can also use each on a separate site. I am planning to do just that as I am in the same situation as you are. Just change url in the member's area and that's it.

Edit: Regs, I thought you owned two separate licenses. Please, ignore my above reply. I just got confused.

Then I suppose that would mean you OWN two licenses. You may only install one product per license. You can not install multiple copies per license so regs is correct in his post. The licensing agreement is right here.

No I am using only vBGallery. Biblio is powered by vBA Dynamics as it's stated in the footer.

I renewed today my Photopost Pro license and planning to use on another project. I never used it even though I bought it in 07.

P.S. Could you please remove my links from your post.

Chuck, if I owe 2 licenses (vBGallery & Photopost Pro) why can't I install both of them on the same domain? It doesn't hurt you, guys, in anyway.

Shoot. When someone buys Photopost Pro license he or she is given a choice to use vBGallery instead for free? I see your point then.

No you can thats not the issue at all.

You made a direct quote of Regs post where he explicitly stated his understanding of the license agreement which was accurate and said well no I am using both. So it gave the appearance that his understanding was wrong.

I dont want people to get confused here. You can run 10 copies on one domain if you own 10 licenses That doesnt matter. The point is if you own one license you may only install either vbGallery or Photopost Pro once on one domain. You own 2 licenses you can install either application but only once apiece on a domain. It can be the same domain. So in your situation if you own 2 licenses you can have 2 copies of vbgallery or 2 copies of photopost pro or one of each on the same domain. Or one install somewhere else and one install on that domain.

Its really the same you see on any software. Take windows for instance. You can only install one copy on one computer. That is unless you buy some other licensing that states you can install multiple copies. Like the new windows 7 I beleive they have a license that allows you 3 installs for like $30.00 bucks more.

That's awesome news for me. I thought I could not do this as I bought my licenses way back when.

You own a vbgallery ONLY license. That means you can only install vbGallery for that first license.

Now your photopost pro license if you bought it the past couple years since the merge you should be able to choose either application but at any rate you would know that by signing into your members area and checking. I dont know your name or license so I cant check that.

In the member's area my second license says under "Type" - PhotoPost PHP Pro. I guess I can't use vBGallery then. I bought PP Pro 4 years ago. That's explains it. I wish you would allow me to use vBGallery as other PP Pro license holders can do it.

P.S. "PhotoPost PHP Pro" name is kinda redundant. PHP? As if there are PhotoPost Perl Pro or vBGallery ASP.
