Broken Integration with vBulletin We've been using Photopost with vBulletin for many years, and I've been quite happy with the result. However at some point (and I can't pin down when) something appears to have broken with the PP/vB integration. Users are no longer recognized and I can't log in to the admin screen. Further, the Register and Forgot Password links in Photopost go to a blank page. We are running PP 7.1 and vB 4.1.7. I've gone over the integration settings in config-int.php and confing.inc.php, everything is correct there as far as I can see. (I thought about trying an upgrade to the PP 8 Beta, but I'm worried that might compound the problem and I don't want to get into a situation of using unsupported software when there is a pre-existing problem.) I'm happy to do more leg work on this, I just need some guidance on what to look at. Thanks! Ryan |
Ryan without an actual link it would be hard for us to speculate on any issue. Now I looked at your site and your issue has to do with the fact that the application is installed as a standalone not integrated with vbulletin. You also left your install script on your server. My suggestion would be to rerun the install script and properly reinstall into the same database tables that exist so no data will be deleted and if you integrate correctly with vbulletin 4 then you should be okay. You should then delete any install or upgrade scripts from your server. They should never exist. Once that is done you can upgrade to the Pro 8 and I think you will be pleased with the new features and integration. |
That's bizarre - it's been installed as integrated with vB since 2006. Funny - that's an old install script :) I always delete the file from the archive before uploading, but I must have missed that one way back when. If I upload and run the install script now will that impact any data in the gallery? |
If you are running 7.1 then all you should need to do is download the build run the install and as I said install into the same database and table prefix and integrate with vbulletin you should be okay. The install script does not delete data. You will see duplicate mysql warnings that is to be expected and normal. |
Done & working, thanks. I'll check out 8 :) |

The display is pretty wonky, ATM. www flowerchat com/photopost/] If I have access to the Beta forum I'll check there for tips. FYI: Our vB theme uses the default style with different colours, so it shouldn't be too tricky to work with. |
Your site should be fine if you follow the installation or upgrade instructions. ;) You have not read the included documentation. Quote:

That worked, thanks. FYI: You have one typo (twice) in the docs quoted. It's "product_pppro.xml" not "pppro_product.xml". Most people will be able to figure it out, but just the same correcting will probably save you a few posts :) |
LOL thanks will check out the typo. |
