Default thumbnail layout

I've looked through the forum and cannot see what I'm looking for.
Is there anyway I can hack the Default thumbnail layout in categories to include title and description?
At the moment I can only get:
Gallery
Thumbnails
-with titles
Group by member
Puzzle

Oh yes I know about the Category Layout but I want to try to keep that at Photo Gallery if I can.

No, the gallery layout options do not include description.
