Members cannot edit own comments

I have enanled comments yes and also tried to set the Number of seconds a user is allowed to edit a comment? from "0" to any other number but still non of the members can edit thier own comments either the comments imported from Coppermine or new images uploaded.
Any ideas?

In Admin => Edit Usergroups have you enabled permissions to actually edit comments in there.

Hi Chuck....yes I have done this."allow edit own post?" = yes
As some members were members of more than on group I've removed tham from all but the primary group just to see if permissions were a problem.
Looking at it closer it seems that new comments can be edited by users it's the old inported comments from Coppermine that members cannot edit.

well then you would have to provide a clear explicit example there is no difference from an old or new comment and permissions.

what is the message you get.

Sorry Chuck.... my fault I didn't commit the changes in VB... therefore primary group wasn't the active group and the permissions from the other group superseded all settings (as expected)....
