Resize original images

Ok... I only found two threads on this and niether were helpful.
Hopefully this is a quickie.
Most of my members uploaded straight from thier digital cameras. In the last gallery script I thought that the uploads were being resized on uploads, but it seems that it was simply making an intermediate copy (hence the 16.4 GB savings in HDD space since moving across from Coppermine to Photopost).
Now I have run the database rebuild for medium images and all was fine. But I need to resize the originals down to a modest 1024 x 68... is there a way of doing this within Photopost?

At the moment when you click on larger size some images are 3500 px large

There is no way to resize the original image of old images. This is done on upload so you set your max dimensions in upload options all new images are sized accordingly.
