When will PP contain truly friendly SEO urls?

I really want PP to make urls that include the category and/or the actual image title name in the url. When is this going to happen?

I think the first step was great removing all the other characters and keeping it into a /blah/blah/ idea, but I think mosst PP owners are ready for the next stage of that so that it puts the gallery, sub-gallery, and image name in the urls as well.

Something that was as slick as a per category bases so that on your gallery category where you specify how many levels for it to show in the gallery, there should also be a setting that specifies how many gallery name levels you want to be included in the url.

As long as there is a option to turn this off. Having run Gallery on another site I found it a pain when photos get moved/titles renamed etc as then you have a broken link. So unless there is a option to leave as is I vote no for keyword stuffed url's.

Honestly, I see this as a mod supplied by a third party; like vBSEO does for vBulletin. There is just so much that can be done it could support an entire product all on it's own.

As far as I know, we are the only gallery to offer two sets of URLs throughout its product to support SEO and "regular" URLs; in my mind, that is enough right that.

In fact, many URLs could be modified within the construct url function in pp-inc.php to include titles or whatever.

That's not to say we wouldn't consider ways of making it better (always am); but this kind of granular SEO work would most likely fall into an add-on kind of product for PhotoPost.

I am guessing it would be pretty easy to make as long as the ID is in the url somewhere. Something like /photos/100/name-of-photo.html , /photos/100_name-of-photo.html etc is a easy mod_rewrite to photos/showphoto.php?photo=100

I might have a play around if I get the time over the next few days.
