pic duplication - main & members

I'm going through the process of rebuilding a large rock band gallery after upgrading to 4.6.5 pro.

I have activated Member Galleries for forum (UBBT 6.4) members.

My required gallery structure is:

(1) Just For Now
(December 2003)
(October 2003)
(August 2003)
etc.

(2) Forum Member Galleries
member 1 gallery
member 2 gallery
etc.

I am the site admin with the user name "Mike"

When I bulk upload to "Just For Now->December 2003" - all goes well except that the photos also show up in the Forum Member Galleries under the member name "Mike"

I've disabled albums under admins in group permission but the pics still show.

I've suspended upping anymore pics until I resolve this, but you can see the problem here: http://www.just-for-now.com/gallery/index.php

I really don't want all the bands photo's showing up in the Forum Member Galleries under my name every time I bulk upload.

Have I missed something here or is this a bug?

Thanks in advance.

Mike

Not a bug, a feature.

In your admin panel, Options, turn off "Member gallery displays all of a users uploads".

Thanks for the quick reply - do you mean:

"Do you want Members Gallery to show all of a users photos?"

if so - I'd tried that but I still show up in the member's gallery along with my photo count, when I click my name I get:

"This category does not contain any images."

- but then when I select "Click here to see all of Mike's photos" -

I can still see all the pics that are in the Just For Now top level category.

Is that how it's supposed to be?

Go into your admin, click scan db, and check

"Check here to recalculate photos/posts numbers and check children"

That should reupdate the count.

I did that but no change.

Is there a way to completely exclude admin uploads from appearing in the member galleries under (their) member name?

It does seem a little odd that an admin uploading to a specific category should show up (especially if he doesn't want to) in the members' gallery area.

I appreciate your feedback

Hi,

I have the same problem. I would like to exclude admin uploads from appearing in the Member Galleries just like guvner mentioned. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks for your time,
Bob

How is an admin any different from any other user? He is a logged in user and when uploading his pictures are title with his username whether it be Admin or Mike or whatever.

You can upload pictures as another member name if you so choose to do so under the admin options

All I'm saying is that I upload 1000s of pictures in various areas, and then I check under member galleries and there I am listed again with my 1000s of pics. I'd like to know if there is a way to have me not listed there, since it's like I'm listed twice. Preferably I'd like only members who upload in the member galleries to be listed there. Not when they upload to other sections of the site.

You can set members gallery not to display total images. However their name will be listed there with a link to all their pictures to show if they have uploaded to any cat.

You can resync your totals by doing a scan database as Don suggested

bajabob, there is no way to exclude a specific user from the counts.

Just create an "upload user"

Upload all the pictures as that user....

PhotoPost is simply listing users and the number of images they have uploaded. There isn't a "do not count these towards a users upload total" option.

I agree with bajabob, this is a problem. I just migrated to photopost, and while I love the bulk upload capability as it makes it easy to migrate (especially the fact that I can point it to a directory and grab everything in it), there should clearly be a feature so that uploads do not end up in the Members Gallery for the administrator.

There is and its so simple.

So you want to bypass everything correct? You do not want to place titles on the photos etc well in that case drill to the cat you want to upload things to then hit upload.

Remember if cat variable is empty it is 500 by default so by you drilling down to say cat 517 and then hitting upload the url has cat defined as 517 so any bulkuploads will go there.
