well you would need to send admin login and ftp info to the contact us link in your header as something is not being done right here.

I am using PHP 5.3.8 on my site and PHP 4.3.6 on this site here so either line works depends on which one.

If the one your using does not work then try the other

and also you need to make sure the file your uploading is a valid image type you have specified under admin upload options.

If you want me to comment further I would need to see the actual site because obviously everything has been a guess without the support info needed.

Thanks for sending the email via the helpdesk just let me know once you setup that ftp account and we can take a look at what you have.
