Fresh Install

Disaster weekend, my hosts 'lost' our databases so now in trying to do a fresh install...

On stap 3 get all this....

Help chuck

Your using an older code on on a new server setup with newer mysql so its not compatible.

Downloading the latest code and installing should work fine.

thanks chuck, i'll try that im pretty devasted as my host ****ed the databases and i had to move server!

Well I take it you did not take site backups. If you had backups it would have been easy to restore your site.

no, i thought my site was managed but it wasnt, so lost 10 years

all pics on server but no sql back up

Yeah well no host takes weekly or daily backups of all servers but most good hosts have monthly backups at the very least.

However as far as webmaster 101. I take daily and weekly mysql dumps via a cron script on my server and do bi weekly ftp dumps of my site to another backup server so I always have a copy of my site. Alot of people forget the basics about running a site so this is not uncommon. Usually after something like what just happened to you happens them people get religious about about site maintenance.

aye lesson learnt chuck, it wont happen again, at least im on a fresh install and can upload the pics nae bother at all
