Also Chuck, I just realized that I have other problems following upgrade.

I've lost the upload button or whatever. In other words, no way to upload images. Also, the admin link is gone too!

1. Yes the template folder is that one yes.

2. Then please read the upgrade documentation especially the part about the installation of the vb4 plugins. You must install the vb4 plugins and the navigation is in the vbulletin navbar.

Same thing on Classifieds. I upgraded bot products today and when I try to generate the XML for classifieds, I get this:

Warning: fopen(/home/x/public_html/pp_class/install/product-class.xml) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/x/public_html/pp_class/adm-plugin.php on line 62

Warning: fwrite(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/x/public_html/pp_class/adm-plugin.php on line 64

Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/x/public_html/pp_class/adm-plugin.php on line 65
File product-class.xml created

per the documentation the plugins must exist where they are suppose to be and must be 777 permissions.

Ok, well all of those files were just uploaded and were in the install directory and I set the permissions to 777. I'm not sure what might have gone wrong. I just tried it all again. Any guidance would be appreciated.

I would have to see your issue as I have done tons of installs upgrades have vb4 on my personal site and the only time I have seen an issue is when someone's path or permissions are wrong or the files are not actually there.

I looked at your site your plugins will install correctly if you follow the directions. What I find is something very simple I touched on above.

I looked at your gallery and your xml plugins in the install directory where 644 permissions. The instructions state they should be 777 permissions. All I did was set permissions on the xml files and then under the gallery admin generate the plugin and install it in the vb. You can do the same for reviewpost classifieds I left those alone so you could do it to learn what you where doing wrong here.

You will also have to remove those static links to any of our products after you install the proper vb4 navigation.

Likewise as well you did not replace your showcomments template either and I replaced that for you.

Ok Chuck. Thank you. I am off to do the other one. I see what you are saying and I understand how annoying it is to tell people how to do something and then have them ignore the directions and do something different. Believe it or not, the work I do is very similar. I deal with people all day that did not follow directions or listen to what they are told. Strangely, I don't understand how the permissions were wrong because I did set them by right clicking on the file and setting them to 777. I don't know what didn't take.

Anyway, I thank you, I apologize for the problem, and I am off to try the other one.

Thanks.

Chuck,

I got the other one fixed and I figured out the problem; I am using FireFTP, perhaps unwisely, which is a Firefox plugin. I just discovered that if you select multiple files and set permissions, then check any individual file, it does not change. I selected three files, set them to 777 and then checked them and the permissions were 644. I set them individually and it took.

It appears that you can only set permissions one at a time if you want it to take using this client. Not good.

I think therein lies the problem. Sorry again and thank you. Have a beer with my compliments.

Yes I just got emailed your reply to post 18 and was going to come tell you to try another ftp program or do it through your hosting panel.

Its no big deal this is why I am here to help out. I was just telling you what I found so you know what the issue was and understand. That is the first and only thing I did on your site besides actually install the plugin for you was check to make sure the files where there and permissions. After 15 seconds on your server via ftp I know I could have your gallery plugins installed in no time.

Your template issue as well was probally something similar. If you tried to edit the template through the admin panel of the gallery and copy and paste the new downloaded template content into the showcomments template editor your tmpl files are not 666 permissions hense no changes would be saved. If you uploaded it via ftp then you simply uploaded the template to the wrong folder. I checked your templates/vb4enhanced/showcomments.tmpl file and it was the original not the one posted in the thread.

You should be all fixed up though. It is about 730 on a saturday night so I am about to crack a beer.
