| 8.22 ShowPhoto details - move from right side to bottom?
OK well I upgraded one of my PP installations yesterday to 8.22 (it was at 7.1)...
Now I see the new layout has all the details to the right of the photo, which breaks my site layout as you can see @ Whitey - Ford Taurus Five Hundred Photos - essentially it looks like the layout is too wide for my main site template.
Now, prior to the upgrade everything fit and looked good, just like it does at one of my other sites: silverbullet - Ford Fusion Photos
Now initially I went into the admin panel and changed the sidebar settings. Nope, turns out it isn't a sidebar (confusing!). Then I looked at showphoto options. Nope, I didn't see anything in there...
So how do I change the ShowPhoto page to be more similar to the old look with the photo details at the bottom? Did I overlook an option that said Left/Right/Top/Bottom for the photo details?
Also, is it just me or does the layout look funny? I'm talking about random bullet or dots, the thick grey border to the left of the photo, etc., that sort of thing. Your own PP demo here looks better - IMG_5533 - PhotoPost Photo Gallery - so I'm wondering if I didn't upload one of the correct CSS files or what...???
When I did the upgrade I overwrote all files except for the /data/ and /uploads/ folder (and of course the two config files), then ran the /install/upgrade.php script.
Thx.

The layout looks funny because your using some old stylesheet not the new stylesheets. As noted in the release announcement for the PP8 series you can not use old stylesheets.
There is no way to move the boxes to the bottom. You can try this template I mocked up but not sure if it is exact.

You need to DELETE the stylesheets directory per the instructions and upload the directory and under Layout Options pick a PP8 style.
Your issue is you have some custom stylesheet you made called original.css as the style which of course was never a part of any PhotoPost release. |

Oh are you serious? I was using my own default.css prior to the upgrade but it turned everything black so I was just guessing at styles until I found one that had the right colors.
I re-uploaded the files. Which style uses a white background with generic blue areas kind of like this vB install?

Wow is the default CSS supposed to be black? How do I get the nice style I used to have? White background, blue headings. I looked at a number of the CSS files and WOW people don't actually use some of those crazy color schemes do they? Some of them scream 1995!! Like camo, ocean, etc.
I just want clean, nice, modern, like I had before |

The documentation clearly says you can not use PP7 styles in the new PP8.
You can choose from like 38 different styles and nothing is 1995 as all the styles in PP8 are 100% valid CSS3 stylesheets validated etc
There are many light colored styleshets so you should find one you like if not you can create one of your own.

I'm making a new style based off silver.css, I think it will do. The biggest things will be to make a white background and get some of the outlines/header background colors to be a nice blue.
Does your own demo look nice --> IMG_5533 - PhotoPost Photo Gallery -- because it uses vB stylesheets instead of the included PP ones?

The demo is integrated with vb and uses the vb stylesheet.

The template I posted should help your width issues but clearly your trying to show the gallery in a 800 pixel wide area which causes the issue.
The new layout of PP8 is designed for 2012 site layouts not old style vertical layouts with restricted widths which where used on all sites back when monitors where 800x600.
Let me know how that template works.

Hey! My site template is set for a 1024x768 screen size.
The new template kinda works and kinda doesn't. The right column is not wide enough (Linked Thumb, linked Image, Date, Views, Keywords section).
See example: http://www.fordtaurus.net/photos/mem...384-radio.html

Your site when I looked at your page style which says this Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
With the padding for your different cells etc your photopost is sitting in an 800 pixel area because your page is 980 minus the sidebar column and all the padding for those various areas. Simple math is all I did. I mean if you want me to be exact 804 pixels.
You can try redownloading the template and try applying it again I tried 2 columns not 3

Oh, I was talking total template width, you were talking about the main content section. Picky, picky :-)
I downloaded the file in your first post again and re-uploaded it, but it doesn't show up any differently....?

It does not show up any differently as you have still uploaded the old one not the one I replaced it with.
I viewed your site and its still the same old code.

Since you're "unofficially" supporting a second showphoto template with the details under the photo, is it possible to alter the main PP install to include both templates? And then give the admin the option of choosing "details on the right" or "details below"?
So far I saw one other guy on the forums here who like the details under the photo too. I dunno, maybe we're the only ones who prefer the old layout? |

Yeah you can try to use the template I posted for him but you would have to convert that html to a standalone style as that is a vb4 template which is different.
I do not support any of this which is why I just posted something for you to try. It is not something I have tested nor support. You can alter it any which way you want. It was more meant for a starting block for you to test with.
You can not add options and redefine what templates are called without actually adding options and altering the files not quite something we provide support for.

My bad, I downloaded and re-uploaded and it looks better now. I may tweak it a little to make things fit better (as you can see I changed the width of the boxes from 10 to 20 chars wide already)

You might also want to left align the bbcode boxes as that is all right aligned in the default code.

I can't just use the old showphoto.tmpl can I? How much in that file actually changed from v7 to v8? I mean, the details section, not the whole file.
