Update to 8 - Stay at the Look of 7 Hello I´m about to Update to the latest Version 8 of PP. How much Layout Changes must I expect ? The Layout of my Site should - as far as possible - stay exactly as it is. After updating to 8 - Will I see a totally other Site or will the Layout nearly look the same ? I didn`t make much Template Changes. So this should be no Problem. Altought I`ll try it on a Test-System, thanks for your Answers in Advance... |
You can see my site to see what to expect with PP8 there are lots of new features and plugins for vb4 in PP8 A community photo gallery - ReefTalk Gallery as far as major layout changes the standalone is where the biggest style and layout changes are. |
Show Photo page changed a lot and I hate it! It takes away from 95% of peoples advertising area! CAN YOU PLEASE MAKE A LEGACY OPTION FOR THE SHOW PHOTO PAGE? |
Steve There is no legacy template not to say maybe in the future they may include one if there is a need. You are the only person I know of so far that hates the new layout. I even I believe spent a little bit of my time going out of my way providing you an alternate layout with the boxes underneath the display for PP8. You can always use that template I provided you. The vast majority of our customers have posted that they overall love the new version that it has came along way. In fact I am getting ready soon to release a maintenance release with even more standalone template layout basically finishing the work that was started with the initial release of PP8. I will pass along your thoughts on the layout though to Michael. |
You have gone out of your way and I appreciate it. However, I no longer have the code for that as it was in the beta forum and it was for an earlier v8 and more has changed in 8.1. |
Nothing has changed with vbulletin from 8 to 8.1. Most changes have been more standalone or mobile related or one or two new things. The only new thing with 8.1 was support for the vb 4.20 navigation system. Other than that that old beta template should work fine I think. http://www.photopost.com/forum/1295765-post31.html |
I searched and did not find that file. Anyway, I replaced the template but now get errors. I replaced it with the one I had in there before and it worked. Thanks. Warning: include([path]/photos/templates/vb4enhanced///showphoto.tmpl) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in [path]/photos/showphoto.php on line 1655 Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening '[path]/photos/templates/vb4enhanced///showphoto.tmpl' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in [path]/photos/showphoto.php on line 1655 |
well your problem is not coming from the template I linked it is fine. That error tells me your showphoto template is not found. |
Thanks for your answer Chuck. Well, for myself I don`t like your "naked looking" Layout with all over white Backround at Reeftalk using PP8. I prefer my Layout using PP7. To repeat and concrete my Question: Is it with PP8 possible to have a Layout which looks at least similar to my actual PP7 Layout and not very different ? Best regards Michael |
Michael No we do not ourselves release any legacy templates. There is a template above I posted for Steve back in the beta moving the column to the right in PP8 to under the photos kinda of like a 7 layout but in the PP8 style. That is all there is and we do not provide support for code modifications. From a support manner I can only support the program as it is released from the company. |

1 Attachment(s) There are no specific plans to release any legacy templates. The template I posted for you in an early beta should work fine to print all that extra info from the right column under the photo not to the right as the only change is that td has been removed |
It worked the 2nd time around! :) |
Yeah I knew it would work as that template like I said was simply all the blocks where moved from the right td under the photo and I deleted the td on the right. ;) |
