Please read the upgrade documentation in the downloaded code.
You have not installed the vbulletin plugins. Number one cause of issues with PP8 is no one is reading the documentation even when we state in the announcements to read the upgrade documentation. vb 4.20 has a new navigation menu.

I had a feeling you were going to say that... I read them. It says after you run the upgrade to:
New plugins included in download.
In the install directory set permissions on the file product_pppro.xml, source-vb4.xml and source-vb42.xml files to 777
2. Go to your photopost admin panel and hit the option to generate vbulletin plugin xml.
Umm.... how can I go to my admin panel if I don't have a link? I don't know what the direct URL to it is. I always get to it by that link on the page.

Chuck... please correct instructions.
You put that url into wrong step. It should be in step 2... not in step 3.
That url points to Photopost Admin Panel.. not VBULLETIN admin panel.

IMPORTANT - DO NOT SKIP
. Backup your database before doing this upgrade.
. Ensure you upload all the directories which have files that need to be uploaded to the main PhotoPost directory.
UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS
0) Download and unzip the latest build from the Members Area.
1) Upload all files - except config-inc.php, config-int.php unless you modified them from the ZIP file - to
your server. You do not need install.php for an upgrade. You also do not need to upload header.htm or footer.htm if you modified those as well.
3) Run http://www.yoursite.com/gallery/install/upgrade.php and depending on your version, run any necessary upgrades.
4) When done with upgrades, remove the upgrade.php file.
5. For SEO rename the HTACCESS file to .htaccess
6) You are done!
IMPORTANT - FOR VBULLETIN 4 ONLY. New plugins included in download.
In the install directory set permissions on the file product_pppro.xml, source-vb4.xml and source-vb42.xml files to 777
2. Go to your photopost admin panel ( http://www.yoursite.com/gallery/adm-index.php )and hit the option to generate vbulletin plugin xml. That file will download to your computer.
3. Go into your vbulletin admin panel and under plugins & products select the option to manage products. You can then use the add/import product option
and upload the xml file you downloaded to your computer called product_pppro.xml file. Once that is done your forum will show gallery content.
4. Thats it your done!!
Please read the CHANGELOG.TXT FILE so you know what to expect from version upgrades. | I actually added that not too long ago as people did not know how to get to the admin panel when the install script takes them right there. |

This still does not look right to me...
Why is the PP breadcrumb not next to the "Home" icon? And I have no idea what's causing the search box input to be the way it is... it was like that after the update. I did not change anything to it. San Diego Comic-Con 2012 - ActionFigs.com Photo Gallery

Our Breadcrumb will appear as it always has in our actual program display. It has never appeared there because we do not use the vbulletin templating system hard to render a vb page when we use our own.
Well I have no doubt the search box input would appear right on the default vb style I run that here A community photo gallery - ReefTalk Gallery
The issue there is determining where in your custom style that the input boxes are being aligned left. That would be my guess.

I'm having a similar problem accept everything is working for me and I have the 'admin' option but the moderators I have set as as administrators in PP are not getting the 'admin' option like they did with 8.03. Where would I go to fix the security permission in vb so that non vb administrators get the 'admin' link?

I just found it... Unless there is an easier way to fix it.
Go into the DB and find the table for vb_navigation
then find the row for prolink_admin
Change field 'showperm' from 'admincplink' to 'modcplink'
then all with rights to the MOD panel will see it.

Hello Chuck,
I have the same navbar problem (missing navbar). I upgraded everything following the upgrade instructions including the vb4 product import but the navbar is still missing.
Can you help me with this please?

That is an easy one your navbar must be hand modified.
To double check you have installed the new plugins and the navigations exists look under your vb navigation manager do all the links exist for gallery? If they do then your navbar is edited which is a no no vb doesnt like hand edited hacks of there templates anymore it can cause issues especially the navbar. Try rerverting your navbar to a stock 4.2 navbar
You should be fine then.

Your welcome have come across that one twice and both times that was the culprit the customer was not using a vbulletin 4.2 navbar template so the navigation was messed up. |
