Moved domain name - minor problems

I apologize for the length of this post, but I want to make sure I list everything I did.

I'm currently running PPPro 7.0.1. I'm going to be moving it from the top level of a website into a sub-directory of a different website. Then I'll upgrade it to the current version. Both sites are on the same server.

I transferred the data directory via ssh (actually my server host did that for me) then I uploaded the remainder of the PPPost files to the new domain. I then repopulated a new database from a backup of the old one. I updated the config-inc.php file to reflect the changes in paths and db info.

It appeared as though everything went perfectly until I tried to login to double check the settings in the admin area. When doing so I was redirected to the admin area of the old site, not the new one. I looked for errors in my paths in the config-inc.php file, but all was correct and reflected the new site.

On a whim I reran the installation file which did allow me to change all paths. And everything was working great! Except today I noticed that when clicking on a medium size photo, the new window opens that should contain the large photo, but the new window comes up blank.

Now I'm concerned that I've improperly restored the site on the new domain, and I may run into trouble when I attempt to upgrade to the most recent version.

What did I do wrong to begin with that led to logging in taking me to the old site?

I probably shouldn't have rerun the installation script, huh?

Should I remove everthing (except the data directory) and start again?

Are there other files besides config-inc.php that need to be modified in order to move to the new domain?

And lastly, is it OK according to my license to operate both sites while I complete the move as long as one of them is not publicly available?

Scratch this for the time being... I'm hot on the trail.

After I moved everything to the new domain sub-directory, which was "tennis-photographs", I decided to change it to "tennis-photos". I thought I'd corrected all the paths, but the link from the medium sized photo to the original sized photo is still looking for "tennis-photographs". I've missed a path somewhere. I'll go hunt it down.

Yeah. I still need help. I can't find where PPPro is picking up the old directory name. Even the javascript on the medium photo that calls the onclick function has the correct directory name. But the pop-up window that holds the original sized photo wants the old directory name.

I've also noticed the following errors when looking at the Statistics page in the admin area:

Quote:
Warning: opendir(/home/xxxxx/public_html/tennis-photographs/data/) [function.opendir]: failed to open dir: No such file or directory in /home/xxxxx/public_html/tennis-photos/adm-inc.php on line 690
The red is the old directory name.

I'm sure this isn't the suggested method, but I ran install.php again and all seems fine.

I suppose since this was pretty much a conversation with myself there's no need to keep this thread if you all want to remove it.

Was at dinner so yes you where talking with yourself for a little while.

Running the install program is the easily way to fix the issue of moving servers.

You could edit the urls and server paths in the database and config files directly but install script is the easiest for most.

Oh cool! Thanks, Chuck.

BTW, I didn't mean that as a complaint. My apology if it came out that way. I just should've tried all that stuff before starting this thread.

Anyway, thank you for the reassurance that I did it right.

If the paths and urls are correct things will work and whatever is easiest for a user to correct those is always right.
