Layout problem - "Latest" is missing some photos What could be wrong when that "Latest" block on the index page displays only a few photos. As an admin I can see the full 3x3 grid but unregistered/registered members see only a partial grid. A community photo gallery - - DVD Plaza Kuvagalleria |
You can set how many rows and columns for the recent photos box under the Admin => Layout Settings. |
Yes, I know that. Settings that I currently have: Number of columns for most recent additions section? 3 Number of photos to display in the most recent additions section? 9 So again.. what could be the reason? |
I would check your category viewing permissions. The only way blanks are going to appear is if the user does not have permission to view the results. |
Hmm... I went through those settings and then it occurred to me (and I think this is a desing flaw if this is the case - please correct me if I'm wrong). It displays a blank if that image is from a protected album? So let's say that some user uploads 10 or more images and puts them all in his/hers protected album - in that case the latest block will be completely empty to everybody else? I think that "latest" should display all the latest images that the visitor has permissions to see. For example unregistered users should see nine (in my case) latest "public" images, user that has uploaded pictures should see nime public images and his/hers latest (if they are among the nine latest images) and admin should see all the latest images. |
It is not a design flaw and yes this is how it works. Years ago we use to query all the photos table and scanning through for permissions etc however that is a resource hog. So really all that is done now is we query the amount of photos you want to display plus say 25 and scan through and see what people can view etc and display results. If all one can view out of those say 37 images is 9 images then thats what is going to show and you will have 3 blank squares. |
