User group issue with phpbb3
 

Hi there!

We just did a new install of Photopost Pro and integrated the log in with our phpbb3 forum. When setting up the categories in Photopost we would like to have certain categories for our workshops private so only those in the workshop can see them. We have the same setup in the forum that there are certain areas in the forum that only those in the workshop can see them. The problem we are running into is if we have a user in more than one workshop (usergroup) it seems they can see both workshop forums in the forum area but in the gallery they can only see the category that is their *default* user group in the phpbb forum. Regardless if they are in both x and y user group they can only see x category in the gallery.

We have tried to figure out how to correct this but nothing has worked. Is there something we have set up incorrectly or is this just an issue with phpbb3? Can they not have two different groups?

More than likely that is because the integration doesn't pull additional usergroups or did not know anything about such a feature. what field is that stored in what phpbb3 table?

for instance the usergroup of a user is stored in the phpbb3 users table in the field named group_id

It shows all the user groups (the ones already there and the ones we created) under the phpbb_groups table. Then in that table each user group is listed like this....


group id-group type-group founder manage-group skip auth-group name etc.

Everything looks the same for each group except the group id and group type. Under group types, one of the user groups we created is has a 2 and the others have a 0. Then the user groups already part of phpbb3 have a 3 for group types. Not sure if the group type makes a difference or not.

Then for the group ids, they go from 1 (guests) to 11 (one of the groups we created).

You may not be understanding what I am saying.

The users main group id is stored in a field in the phpbb3 users table called group_id

If I am to assist in helping you get additional groups to assign permissions I need to know where they are listed.

Yes, I am sorry. I think understand a *bit* of what you are wanting. I am just not exactly sure where to find it if that makes any sense. All I can see that has to do with groups is phpbb_user_groups which from what I read is for Users groups and then phpbb_acl_groups which I believe is for permission roles and/or individual permissions assigned to groups.

I am sorry I am not very clear on all of this. The whole phpbb thing I am pretty new to and still trying to figure it all out. Thank you for working with me!
