Parse error during install due to characters in password

I am trying to install and am getting the following error....

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '?', expecting '}' in /home/public_html/gallery/config-inc.php on line 63

The ? character is in my db password.

what can I do to fix this besides changing my db password?

My suggestion would be to change the password
