| Weird Stuff Happening
Hi Chuck and I hope you had a good weekend. I had already typed out this post but don't know what happened.
I changed my show photo and show frame php so that it would only show 3 pictures in the slide slow rather than 7 but that won't effect the entire gallery showing up like THIS when I look at one picture. I've never had that happen before.
Also, this was happening on Friday BEFORE I change the above-mentioned php when I had a clean install. The only two templates that have been modified are mentioned above. Please let me know how to fix this. Thank you.

well we do not support any file changes from our default code. From a company standpoint I would tell you to upload a clean showphoto and showframe php files.
I can tell you whatever code changes you made make sure you made do not like the cat=all in the url

Chuck, I never changed any URLs on any templates and you can see this from your default templates if you'd like.
I just changed the number 7 to the number 3 or 3 to 1 on show frame php on lines 217, 227, 237, and 241; and on the show photo php on lines 436, 441, 456, and 460. This was to change how many slide show pictures you would see and how many columns.
I wrote all of this down just in case something like this happened, but regardless, it was happening BEFORE I made any template mods. I changed the templates mods on Friday evening as evidenced by my logs, and this was happening on Friday afternoon.
As a matter of fact, if you were to search for cat-all in both of the templates, it's not even there.

I do not think you understand our companies position. We support our gallery and code as we release it to you. We do not provide support for modifications you make to our code. The number one cause of software issues is code hacking. I gave someone a suggestion in this thread and if you have coded it correctly it should look like what I am posting you need to do the math correctly for all variables for things to work but again I may suggest something to someone but we do not support any changes or issues that they may cause. Didn't work and still uploaded the entire gallery after a picture so I just reloaded the clean templates. I understand mods and what they can do to the software but no URLs were changed and changing a the number 7 to 3 shouldn't cause this hassle because I don't want 7 pictures going all the way across. I only want 3 and your users should have the option to change that without it being called a mod or it bringing up all 6000+ pictures in my gallery.
But again, you're not addressing the fact that this was happening BEFORE any template mods were made. And the date of this picture is wrong, which I've always had a problem with as I uploaded it this morning.

Also when uploading, I'm not getting a photo description box, I'm getting a line. I'm back to default templates now.

How is the date of the photo incorrect?
I uploaded a photo and the date is correct. Your telling me that photo your pointed out was not uploaded yesterday?
Your issue with your code mod is corrected now that are not using hacked php files. From a support perspective all I can tell you is that there is no option to show any less than the 7 photos in the code. The previous version you could not show less than 5 or 7. Your option with such a constrained with huge thumbnails and no medium images is always going to push your gallery out of your restricted width
I have given you suggestions before to reduce your thumbnail size and set the preview block to the right to help keep it in your width but you did not do any of that. Also setting a medium size of 600 may help in line with the thumbnails.
I think if you set things as suggested you will keep images in your constrained width.
If you do not understand what I am suggesting to set things like let me know and I can go in and do it for you.

The photo with the butterflies, yes, I did upload just a few hours ago and that's the one that I showed you. I've had a date issue in the gallery since day one, about a year and a half ago.
I really prefer to keep the preview on the bottom as it's always been there not to mention I will get a ton of complaints. I thought that I had the thumbnails adjusted correctly but obviously I don't. Go ahead and fix this for me please because I am very tired of working on this and am sicker than a dog on top of it. If we can't adjust the size of the slide show to where it stays with in the margins, just remove it and we can use the next photo option. I had this all worked out before that host issue last week. Thank you. PS: Don't forget the date thing too. I have no idea what the deal is with that.

I will let you know about your thumbnail rebuild
Just to let you know dates seem fine to me. I just uploaded this photo like 2 minutes ago and it shows correctly uploaded today at 4:54pm which is correct so not sure what you mean by dates are not right.

Check your vb profile time offset and make sure its correct.
Your date is fine. Only way your going to see it wrong is if your vb profile time offset is wrong.

Yes when using a small constrained its all about setting your settings to correspond with your site size. I set things how I think they should work looking at your site.
Basically your issue before is you where trying to show 1600 pixels worth of information on a 900 pixel wide site. You can not do that without seeing severe scrolling which you found out. |
