Gallery Upload Dates

Chuck, as you know, I had to replace all of my templates. When the photos were re-uploaded, they're all over the place as far as dates go. How do I fix this so at least they're in order by date?

Thank you.

Meaning? Are you saying that it's impossible to put the pictures in date order? Is it not automatically in the script to arrange gallery pictures by date?

You referred to your template dates so maybe we are not talking the same thing.

if your referring to your category sort you can set the default sort for your category under Admin => Edit Categories edit your specific categories and set the default sort to latest.

They're all correct except that in a subcat, I'm getting this, which doesn't look in date order to me when the parent is in date order and when I edit the subcat, it says latest as well.

Message - Gallery

There are 25 images displayed from August 2010 back to November of 2009 so they appear to be displayed in date descending to me which is latest sort.

What is wrong with the order they are displayed?

Look at the very first three pictures on the top row and the dates. They're by no means in any order of May 2010, November 2009, August 2010. If you're looking at the Flourishes gallery that I linked you to, there's nothing in order about that gallery whatsoever or ANY gallery.

My Photos is nowhere near latest to first.

And the entire gallery when clicking all is completely dated all over the place as well.

The only thing that's descending about any of this is me into a nightmare.

My Photos is not a category it is not displayed by any sort in a sort list. That displays date descending or latest only. Your photos go from today all the way to the beginning so they are most definately displayed date descending.

Your categories if you set them to latest sort display date descending which is how they show.

When I am logged in under my name, etc., and I hit My Photos, they are not descending. Nothing is descending from what I'm seeing and we're seeing the same thing, i.e., the Flourishes gallery isn't descending and everything is set right and you can look yourself at the settings. May 2010, November 2009, August 2010 is not descending. Even hitting ALL in the gallery isn't descending.

maybe you have used your sort box and have a sort cookie stored. Try clearing your browser cookies and look again

everything I see is shown date descending.

Did as requested and everything is still out of order. THIS is what I got this morning when I went to my gallery and hit ALL.

Tried to rebuild thumbnails again too and nothing got fixed from host. Am switching this weekend.

Whether or not it's showing on your end, you need to tell me how to get these back in order when the settings are correct because something's not working here. Members of my board after clearing their cookies and rebooting also verify they're seeing the exact same thing I am.

If you need to go in and check, then check, but please fix it because I've done everything that you've requested and I have clean, default templates with no mods.

Your internal server error is not a problem with our code thats your host again They must have reset server permissions and whacked out your php files

Your php files should be 644 permissions.

I get a blank page for your entire site

I'm going to cry. They just changed permissions to 777 for all files and now you're saying that's wrong when you recommended it yesterday. Dude, be more specific? Which files should be 777 and now I'm going to tell them that the php files should be 644. This hosting stuff is out of my league so you are going to have to help me with what to tell the bozos because this is your software and you are the only person who knows what permissions are needed where. So, if there's like a cheat sheet on this somewhere that's specific for dummies, please let me know. Thank you.

when I posted I was stated to set permissions on your data directory to 777 at every level.
I did not explain to set every last thing to 777.

Here is a list of permissions the way they are suppose to be set. Your uploads and data directories are the only ones that are 777 all the way down/

Thank you and I forwarded this to the host. So, we'll see what they'll do next but I don't think the dates are going to magically straighten out, so put your thinking cap on.

well once your site is up I can take pics of what I see.

Like I said the category sort you set is the one used UNLESS you have a ppperpage cookie on your computer with a sort parameter.

It's up but I think they're still trying to put Humpty Dumpty back together again. Please translate the second paragraph. All is set to descending now as discussed yesterday, but if that ppperpage cookie with a sort parameter is something I need, then we'll have to work on that. You keep coming up with this new stuff.

here is what I see viewing the one category link you post above and also the second is what I see when viewing your gallery they are most definately sorted by latest

If you do not see the same then you have a cookie with another sort. If you change a sort when viewing the gallery it stores a cookie for that browsing session.

You can see that I see things sorted by date descending.

Okay, can we get to the bottom of this and what should the cookie settings be in the PP Admin Panel? I can't even get to anywhere in any gallery to sort anything since there's no options.

PS: Don't go in there right now to fix them if you're thinking of that. The host actually fixed something and it's allowing me to rebuild the thumbnails.
