This is not fun

I downloaded my version, unzipped and went looking for the templates to replace on the server. What's the deal with that? I don't understand how I can do an install yet avoid uploading those 2 files you said not to. So please let me know where the templates are.

Cindy

1. Download the code.

2. Unzip it to your computer

3. go to the directory where you unzipped it on your computer. Delete the two config files and the install and upload php files.

4. Upload the contents of what is left into your gallery directory on the server.

Chuck, I wasn't even seeing any of the php files when I unzipped. So instead, I turned it over to my professional coder and here's the experience that he had:

"It caused a database error upon following his instructions. Currently until you have CHUCK fix it, all mods are disabled via the config.php file otherwise you could not access your forum. I just spent over 2 hours backing up all files and the database just to follow his statement in one of your previously forwarded emails to receive an error, I've had enough of this and cannot work for free because I cannot charge for something that did not work as the creator intended it to!!! The templates are in the product file or the file that installs or updated, you saw .php files and perhaps some type of .xml file or similar but point being you're saying it all wrong... forget that and tell him it failed, I did not overwrite the config file etc and nothing else was stated in readme.html so...It would not upgrade as it's the most current version, I choose for it to re-install the templates etc as that's what we need right?

Database error in vBulletin 3.8.6:

Invalid SQL:
SELECT varname, value FROM ppgal_setting;

MySQL Error : Table 'couttsc_forum.ppgal_setting' doesn't exist
Error Number : 1146
Request Date : Tuesday, September 21st 2010 @ 10:37:35 AM
Error Date : Tuesday, September 21st 2010 @ 10:37:43 AM
Script : http://www.cpcmag.com/forum/admincp/...ry_install.php
Referrer : http://www.cpcmag.com/forum/admincp/...ry_install.php

Now did he set up the Gallery differently than others or ????

I followed the message you forwarded from Chuck and also his own readme.html file included with the .zip, it has instructions as well. he gave you instructions, you forwarded them to me and I followed those instructions. When that did not work I fell back on his readme.html included with the software. It does say there were maaaaaaaaany changes since the previous version even in the readme so if it changed how tables were made or updated the script should handle all that."

So, as you can see, I'm in a bad place right now. Not only that, I have about 1000+ women and lurkers very upset because even clicking on the Scrapbooking Gallery from the gallery homepage gives you a blank page, and this is after the Scrapbooking Specialist just organized that gallery and took 3 days to do it.

I think you've got some work to do and this needs to be fixed today as it's been a very longstanding issue and one that is costing me advertising revenue, as well as members. I think the sooner you get in there and make your repairs, the better, without losing a single picture or comment my members uploaded or made.

Thank you.

I beleive your issue is because you where running Photopost Pro and you or your coder has tried to install the vbGallery product. Your gallery directory has vbgallery files in it.

Clearly your coder or you has modified our released files which negates your ability to get product support. I showed you this in previous posts and you even acknowledge you have have modified the code.

This is why I have stated since the beginning of your issues that if you wish me to look at any issue on your site as running our core code should fix any issues you need to be running a clean functional photopost pro gallery with no mods for us to test things.

My suggestion at this point since your current issue is that your coder or you have tried uploading vbgallery into your pro directory is for you to download photopost pro 7.02 from the members area and reupload the pro files.

Christian Paper Crafts

Some of your photopost comes up but since core files like index.php of our pro code was overwrote with vbgallery files all you get are white pages

I have no issues

I was just going to write you about that, but the wrong download was only installed last night and I still had the blank pages before that and broken links. I wish the version that I needed to download would have been clarified because frankly, it would have saved myself and my coder about 12 hours and that's not right. Hopefully this nightmare will end soon. Since you've originally installed the software, nothing has worked right so there is some responsibility here on your behalf.

Chuck, you're very good at what you do or else you wouldn't be doing it, but you need to keep in mind that the majority of us here are not inside your brain nor speak your language, and you need to get to layman's terms when you're offering customer service as much as possible so we can understand what you're saying and hold our hands. In the long run, it will save you a tremendous amount of time, believe it or not, so people don't have to come back repeatedly for clarification.

Hear me out. The first time I substituted for kindergarten, I asked the kids if they needed to use the restroom. I had 30 eyes looking at me like I was from another planet. I then rephrased it to ask them if they needed to go to the ladies room or men's room. They still keep staring at me like I'm crazy. I then asked them if they needed to go potty, all 15 kids all raise their hands. If I had asked them if they needed to go potty first on their level, we wouldn't have gone through the deer in the headlights scenario.

My coder didn't do anything wrong here. I downloaded the wrong version and sent it to him. Now he's up with a very ill wife all night long and maybe not on top of his game as he always is, but you still didn't tell me which version to download and while there is some personal responsibility involved, it is up to you to make sure that your customers are doing what they need to do and if that takes a few more minutes to post, then do it. If not, you get a glimpse of our ongoing relationship with one disaster after another, which your other members here at the boards read when doing a search. Take that extra minute for customer service and like I said earlier, you'd be amazed at how much your personal workload would cut down.

Teach us while you're explaining to us our questions and problems. That's the only way we will learn and you want us to learn our product to help others, which would also cut down on your workload, as well as referrals to others about your excellent customer service, etc.

Now, once my coder fixes everything, how do I get rid of that gawd awful random photo, most popular, etc., stuff? I hate it. Remember that I'm trying to have my personal gallery just like it is at SCS and my gallery homepage like theirs too, as well as when you go to look at the general gallery and shown are the pictures uploaded from today.

I know Splitcoast runs an older version of PP and their gallery is heavily customized, but I can get something close to that which looks nice and is user friendly, and that is my ultimate goal and I'd like you to help me with that.

The only issues I have seen and commenting on thus far are issues I have found with your custom mods to the files sending links to alternate places instead of where they should be. Replacing with default files should solve that issue.

I cant tell you what splitcoaststampers site did you would have to ask them since they did custom work to the script. My job is to support the default code here.

As far as whether you want to show the recent random or popular photo blocks you can turn them off in the admin index and layout options.
