Problems after upgrade

A lot of issues after host changed everything last Thursday and broke most of our scripts. PP was just one of many.

Installed per instructions, ran upgrade script for 4.8.5 to latest, encountered some errors during process that indicated permission problems. Cannot change permission on data folder 3008, it's set to 755. Others all set 777 per manual.

Can't log into Admin Panel, tells me I'm not a valid adminstrator or moderator.
Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
No thumbnails other than a stock "no thumbnail" graphic.
Same error as above. Former categories are listed, with content numbers and stats, etc.

The original gallery/data/1 is gone, so uploaded replacement from zip, have no backup of gallery/data/1

With the delay in getting access to support, I had to use Google's cache. From what I see my database has no "usergroup" category, we're integrated with VB3 (latest).

Not sure what other information would be pertinent. Both photopost and vbulletin use the same database, and do not use a pp_ prefix. Edited the config and int files manually, have correct info.

follow up, more info

The only htaccess file in the directory we call "gallery" is the one with the upgrade script, it does not have the . preceding, so not active.

I enabled the htaccess file, same problem.

PHP 4.4.4
safe_mode off
GD2 plus freetype
MySQL 4.1.22

Chuck, got your message. I'm not sure what my options are at this point. I have a backup of the entire database, but it's shared with VB so I can't do a full restore. Is there a way I can import photo's after a fresh "new" install? Need some specifics.

well then simply try restoring the pp_photos table and rerun your upgrade.

The point is without your upgrade script present I cant check and see if you missed anything.

Next as noted you ran your upgrade over and over and over again which messed up the filenames thats why you need to restore the pp_photos table from a backup. Once you do that you can rerun the upgrade ONCE.

Chuck, I don't recall us ever using the pp_ prefix, but you indicate I need to find the pp_photos table specifically, and restore it?

I'll upload the upgrade script.

Thanks for the reply Chuck. The photo table still exists unchanged.

I sense you're telling me I've bought an upgrade I can't use. If that's the case, I have no problem with that, I just need to know and decide what to do. I'm not getting the warm and fuzzy you're able to help us from the comments.

Before I make a decision, I need to know if our Photopost investment will no longer work one way or another.

You can use the upgrade provided you properly upgrade your site Keith. I pointed out the areas where mistakes where made.

What I have said before here is that when you upgraded from the looks of your site you ran the 485 upgrade multiple times and maybe missed some which is what you did.

Now look at your site I ran the upgrade and got the missing one you missed so you have no more errors.

However as previously stated you ran the 4.85 script more than once which resulted in none of your images being viewable since we rename images to be compatible with the new file storage system that was incorporated years ago when 5.0 came out.

In order for you to get your photos viewable again you must first check to see you have a valid photos table backup. You then drop the current photos table. You then restore the photos table from a backup and then run through your upgrades ONE time only from 4.85 and your site will be fixed.

Yep you just do that one table restore and a quick one time run through each upgrade from 485 forward to catch any additions to the photos table and do not worry about duplicate errors they just tell you the upgrade was done already.

Been wrestling with this since last week. Restored the photo table, changed permissions and ran 4.8.5 Still doesn't want to work. I get a full page of errors similar to the one below.

Preparing to remove files which are no longer used by PhotoPost.
Warning: unlink(/home2/right/html/gallery/dcfp_auth_lib.php) [function.unlink]: Permission denied in /home2/power/public_html/gallery/upgrade.php on line 1958

basically no progress, no thumbnails or picts.

Looking at the photo table this evening, it appears my host uploaded the wrong backup. All of the filenames are preceded by numbers, I'm assuming part of the upgrade process added digits to the filenames? I've asked for an older backup, which will take yet another day before trying the upgrade from the 4.8.5 step all over again.

whoops, spoke too soon.

The images I'm looking at are all small, yet the description says the photo is 1024x768 by example. Did I lose images at some point or is this a setting?
