Benefit to installing INTO msgboard database?

I am now attempting to install ALL three programs into PHPBB3 and am wondering what exactly is the advantage to installing the entire programs into the forums database as apposed to a seperate database?

Thanks

ONE INTEGRATED LOGIN.

if you do not integrate them into the forum then you are going to have 4 separate logins to the applications and forum.

Ok. So have all 3 built into their own table prefix in the msgboard forum database will mean that if they are logged into the msgboard and go to any of the three that they won't be asked to re-log in?

Or if they are logged into any of the 3 programs and they went to go to the msgboard that they would not be asked my the msgboard to log in again?

You can install the applications in the same database or different database does not matter. The point here is when installing our applications you must input the proper info and select integration with phpbb3 and answer things right. If you install integrated with the message board login then yes when you are logged in anywhere in the apps your logged in everywhere else.

I'd appreciate some assistance:

I installed the gallery in /gallery and Thought I configured it correctly but I must have missed something because while the login works perfectly fine and it can read the forum stats from the admin panel, it doesn't seem to acknowledge that they are logged into the forum already. My understanding as pointed above is that if you are logged in from the msgboard it would result in you being logged in, into the 3 software even tho they have their own separate databases.

Below is my (edited for privacy) config files for the gallery. I use phpbb3

[config-inc.php]
Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.

[config-int.php]
Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
These are my actual website paths:

Camarosource.ca - Camaro Message Board • Index page
A community photo gallery - My Photo Gallery

Well phpbb3 is like this you want cookie settings in both to read this below and make sure you clear cookies in the browser after making changes and trying

cookie path /

cookie prefix blank

cookie domain .camarosource.ca ( note the dot then site name this makes it site wide )

Your forum and gallery need to be set like this and also make sure in your gallery admin under cookie settings you have set the proper full phpbb3 cookie name where asked. You entered this on install right?

Can't seem to get the three programs (reviews, classifieds, gallery) to link up together nor with the msgboard.

[Details]

Message board (PHPBB3) : Camarosource.ca - Camaro Message Board • Index page
Gallery : A community photo gallery - My Photo Gallery
Reviews : Main Index - My Product Gallery
classifieds : Main Index - PhotoPost Classifieds

As an experiment I loaded 4 tabs in firefox

Tab 1 : Gallery
Tab 2 : Classifieds
Tab 3 : Reviews
Tab 4 : Forum

All 4 are LOGGED OFF. I logged into the gallery and reloaded all the tabs (except for the Gallery which I logged into) to see if it would result in both other programs and forum to be logged in. Unfortuntely only the Gallery was logged in and all the rest including msgboard required a re-login.

I tried logging into the msgboard to see if it would make it so the other 3 programs would be tied into it and would be logged in but to no avail.

I am just going to post the GALLERY files because they are all configured the same.

Note: it IS able to look at the information in the forum (phpbb3) because in the admin panel, it clearly IS able to read and show how many members are in the msgboard.

My admin panel in my phpbb3 forum under cookies is set as "phpbb3_daex4" as default for the cookie name yet there is no where to enter this in any of the programs other than "cookie prefix" which you said to keep BLANK. How would any of them know what cookie to use if there is nothing to specify it?

[CONFIG-INT.PHP]

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.

[CONFIG-INC.PHP]

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.

ADMIN PANEL

[COOKIE SETTINGS]

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.

[FORUM SETTINGS]

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
Would appreciate some assistance. Thanks

Your cookie name is EMPTY

On install it asks for the cookie name for smf phpbb3 or wowbb

Looking at your settings your cookie name variable is empty I think that would help you alot

phpbb3_daex4

Where do you put the cookie name? I can't see it anywhere. Only above is where it says anything to do with cookies but it's the prefix and you said to leave it blank. There is nothing in config-inc nor config-int for cookies. And in the cookie settings in admin, it only lists the 3 settings above.

Thanks.

You put it where it says smf cookie

On install is when you where asked to popular the proper phpbb3 cookie name as I stated. You must have left this blank.

You can put it in that setting in cookie settings for cookie name or rerun install and specify the proper cookie name when asked for phpbb3.

If you want me to look at your admin settings you can send your admin login and urls to the contact us link so we get it via email.
