Question MyBB 1.4, installation help please

I'm sorry, I've been trying all day and still can't figure it out. It's time to ask for help! LOL

I just renewed to access 7.0 and am doing a fresh install on a test forum. I can get it installed, but am still getting the dreaded "You are not a valid administrator or moderator!".
At the top right of that page, I can log in with mybb forum info and it takes me to the gallery. I can't for the life of me get the Admin page to load.

I have followed the directions and researched the other posts, but I still can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Any input would be appreciated.

well what usergroup are you?

By default looking at the info I have an administrator is usergroup 4 in mybb right?

You can send ftp info url and admin login and urls through the contact us link if you wish in our header.

Thank you~

I called it a night and started again this morning. I reinstalled mybb and then photopost.
The "You are not a valid administrator or moderator!" appeared again, but the link to log in at the top right was there. Once I logged in that way, that whole upper bar that contains the Admin link was present. That was not there before.

I had some other errors when I went to upload photos, but after reading more I found that was attributed to not having some file permissions set right.

Now I just need to figure out how to show it on the forum.

So apparently maybe your cookies are not aligned correctly.

try this. Delete all cookies in your browser. Login to photopost and go to your forum are you logged in?

If so try it the other way round. If your not logged in when logging into the forum read this

Cookies and Login Problems!!

You need to be logged in to get to admin and your cookies need to be set right.

I deleted cookies, but when I log into Photopost there is no link to my forum.

I'm sure I screwed it up somehow.

I'll send you my info. Please take your time, I'm not in any hurry.

There would not normally be a link to your forum. We integrate with the mybb forum login.

There might be some confusion here on your part what your expecting to happen here. If you login with your forum login and it work then your integrated with the mybb login. If you go to your forum and your logged in then your cookies are set right

You can send us the url and admin login but it sounds like your fine.

Ok, when I deleted cookies, logged into photopost and then went to my forum. My username and password were already defaulted in.

Thank you for taking a look at it.

LOL I just sent an email. I can't stay logged in on the admin panel to the forum now. I log in, but once I click on a link I go back to the log in page.

LOL Darn it.......I hate it when it's something I should have thought of!

Thank you so much for your help.

It really is all about that cookie path / and it has to be done that one way for this to work. It can't be anything else that you "think" should work.

well you cant create a cookie in your forum with a path of /forummybb/ which would only work on your forum and expect to be logged into both applications.

Yes cookies need to be set site wide to work on multiple applications which is why I wrote up that tutorial.

Thanks, I'm still learning. Now I understand the difference between the two when you explain it like that.
