Install Issues

So I have installed PP probably 50 times on various 3.X sites, however, when trying to install PP on my 4.X site I cannot get it to work??

On my 4.X site without the content manager (CMS) it is working fine, however, on the full 4.X Suite site I cannot get it to work. Once the installation is completed, I try to access the gallery or the admin panel and get a 500 error.

With that said, should the URL of the forum be the domain root since the forum really is not in a directory of its own or should I input the URL of the actual forums?

Could my vBSEO installation have something to do with it?

Thanks in advance!

1. DISABLE YOUR PLUGINS

2. MAKE SURE ON THE FINAL PAGE OF INSTALL THE FORUM SERVER PATH IS CORRECT.

That is my suggestion and I think you will find it working. Depending on whether its a path issue or plugin you will find out after its up and running.

Only thing other than Suite running is vBSEO...

Let me ask, with vBulletin suite, shoot the forum path / url be http://www.yourdomain.com/forum or http://www.yourdomain.com

I am referring to the server path to your forums in config-int.php not the forum url

turn off vbseo and see if things install fine. If so then in your vbseo control panel make sure to put your photopost directory as one they dont rewrite then reenable vbseo.

Ok I suppose what I am asking is this.

Prior to 4.0 a lot of people installed vBulletin into a forum directory, ie www.yourdomain/forum because they used a third party CMPS (vB Advanced)

Now with the new suite software, you have a built in CMS aside from the forums with a different url www.yourdomain.com/forums, however, there really is not a /forums directory. So, when installing PP, should the forum url be www.yourdomain.com/forums?

In addition, should the path include the /forums or should it just be a path to the vB installation since there is really no /forums directory?

The path and urls should be WHERE EVER you installed the new vb4 at.

For example on my site since my site had vb in forums thats where I left things so all old links in goggle etc would work in regards to forum. I simple use a redirect to send all traffic that goes to my main site page to my forums directory.

Hi there, I understand that, however, my question is would the path still be /forums even though there is really not a forums directory.

For example:

My home page is RifleandReel.com - Hunting, Fishing, and Outdoors Forum - The Hunting and Fishing Times then when I click on the forums link it takes you to RifleandReel.com - Hunting, Fishing, and Outdoors Forum but the forums is not truly in a forums directory...all of vBulletin resides within the root.

Does that make any sense?

Thanks for the help!

Links always help

No it would not. If you moved your vbulletin install to the web root then your server path to vb would be your root server webpath.

Chuck, thanks so much for taking the time to assist. I have tried the install a few different times with the same results...a 500 error.

Here is where the installation was done:

It has to be a config that I messed up...

The issue is fixed as I can see it.

If I hit your gallery page and lets look at the register link. It correctly shows the correct forum url now

When I attempt to access the gallery, I receive a 500 error. So I do not know what the problem is.

Here is the link to the gallery install, if you click on it, you just get an error page.

A community photo gallery - My Photo Gallery

I cannot access the control panel or anything in regards to the gallery.

I am thinking that the config must be incorrect, however, I am not sure. I wonder if it has something to do with the fact I am running the suite and not just the regular forum install?

I have another 4.0 site setup (not suite) and the install went fine...so there is obviously something odd going on.

There is the confusion I dont see any problems here. Like I said you can try disabling vb plugins but this is what I see when I go to your site

This is your site clearly.

Ya I am wondering if it is a browser issue...I was able to access it via my cell phone so I am not sure what is going on (my other install works fine on my other vB 4.0 site (just forums, no suite)

The only plugins I have is vBSEO, so I am not sure if that would really cause any issues...I will play around with it some more though.

Actually, I noticed that when going to http://www.rifleandreel.com the url field changes to http://www.rifleandreel.com/content/ I wonder if that is causing any issues with any of the values I have in the config?

Thanks as always for the help!
