SEO Question

Hello,

I will soon update from PP6.23 to 7.

Users have to be registerd and looged in to view Photos.
Is it in PP7 possible that Search Engines can spider Photos even if Users have to be registerd ?

Regards
Darwin

search engines can spider whatever they can see. If you dont give spiders access to see content then nothing gets entered

In other words, spiders can only see what guests can see on your site.

Sorry if this is a silly question but if I turn on SEO Optimized URLs (I currently have spider URL's enabled) will all previous picture links that have been posted elsewhere (separate forum) become invalid or will only new uploads change?

I have modified my showphoto.php file to display only thumbnails instead of fullsized images to guests and users awaiting validation (works with vbulletin only), with Chuck's permission I would share my edited showphoto.php file, but would not guarantee it was bug free. I won't share it without permission as it contains copyrighted code. For those interested I copied about 2/3 of the script three times putting each part within if functions. Guests and validating users also see a message telling them to register/validate their accounts to see full sized images. This has both increased my registration rates and improved search engine traffic as google sees a hell of a lot more keyword rich pages.

You can not redistribute our php scripts in any manner because it is copyrighted code which you know. You can tell people what you did in the mod forum but can not physically post any php files with our code etc. Only templates can be distributed.

The embedded image tags would be fine - the links to those images should properly redirected to their new pages.

The images and their thumbnails have not been changed locations - only the URL used to reference the showphoto/showgallery/index/member pages.
