| Search result without photo details
After the upgrade to version 7, the search result page display only thumbs without photo details (title author etc...)
I do not like this, is possible to add this details?
I have not found in templates the part of the code regarding search results.
Tnx in advance
rob

Simply answer is no and this feature has not changed in a quite along time. So what did you upgrade from a significantly older copy of the gallery?
The search page simply lists the results. The search has not listed photo details since Photopost 5.5 and below when search results where displayed by the showgallery script and not the search script.

search page has always just displayed the results it was never designed to be the showgallery script and show all kinds of info. As stated not since version 5.5 has the search been handled by showgallery thats just a fact.
The only change in 7.0 is that the 1day 7 day 14 day all links on indexhead are now also done on the search script

well I am just saying that the search script simply returns results its not meant to be showgallery. You need to click a photo to see the photo info.

This is incorrect Chuck.
When you go to a gallery, at the top there is the 1 day, 7 days, 14 days and all. Previously when you clicked on one of those, it most certainly did bring up the information like title, username, views, etc. Now it does not. This is a huge removal of code that was present in the past, and I'm going to second that it needs to be put back in. This renders many aspects of our gallery, for my staff, useless.

Furthermore, previously when you did a straight search, a two column page came up. On the left was the thumb with the name of the person who uploaded and date it was uploaded. In the second column it showed the title of the image and the description. This has been yanked as well.
p.s. I upgraded from 6.2.3 by the way, in case there is any confusion.

The search script in Photopost 7 performs as it is written.

I'm confused... was it changed or was it not changed? Originally you said it wasn't rewritten, and if it was rewritten, that would mean that it's a bug since it no longer acts the same way it did before.
I have a staff whose job it is to find images that don't have comments and comment. Because this code has been rewritten the have literally no way to locate these layouts. None. This was useful code that was used on a daily basis by many sites, and it needs to be put back in. This seriously is an issue that would force us to not use Photopost, as well as many other sites. That information was needed. |

There is also an issue of when you search the last 7 days, it reads as follows
500 result(s) to your search. - Wed December 31, 1969

I dont specifically know all the changes but I know the search page does not show results like showgallery does that much I know. Search may have had maybe a title or something but it never showed all details like filesizes views all the jazz. All I can do is support the code as the developer has written it.

Please see this gallery. This is how our galleries used to work before we upgraded to 4.0.
Please click on 1 day.
It shows as follows:
User: kerryt
Views: 0
Date: Sun December 20, 2009
Filesize: 148.3kb
Dimensions: 435 x 336
Comments: No comments
What it looks like is that you have removed the search gallery and replaced it with "Search". When you did this, you took away the ability to see this information.
For those needing a work around the back way, for now use this url Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
It would be nice if this was just added back in so our users have the functionality that they have grown accustomed to.

As previously stated the 1 day 7 day 14 day all links on indexhead no longer are served up by showgallery.php. All gallery searches are served up by search.php now.

The number of searches returned are limited by the search limit in the admin options (default is 500).
All searches, even for the "last X days" will be handled through search.php (partially for SEO purposes, partially in anticipation of taking out this code from showgallery.

Im using latest version, and all information appears fine for me.
Heres a link to last 7 days on my site - Chatanplay Photo Gallery Update
Hmmm, on my site, i have links which i made in a drop down menu. Last day, Last 7, Last 14, and all.
The results shown from these links, do show all info, as expected...
however, looking at the standard links within the gallery, they do not.
Just thought id mention it, since the showgallery search results still work, at least for me.

Michael and Chuck, I know that this seems meaningless, but this is was a very much used option in the software. How hard would it be to include code that set it up so that you can see "pictures without comments"? We just need some way to do what we did before.
(not trying to sound condescending, just an honest question)
