I have been using my vbagallery for years on my forum and its a major part of my community, i have currently updated to vBulletin4 and now i cannot use my gallery.
The fact we are not even being given a estimate time for the update is not acceptable..
So pretty much if you have vbagallery and update to vBulletin4, dont expect to be able to use your gallery for a long time....

We have been very vocal all along it will not work and when we have a compatible version it will be announced. You simply can not rewrite an entire application in 8 weeks and except us to have a version that works with vbulletin 4. They have been working on there version 4 software for over a year but did not open a beta for people like us to see till November. That means everyone who writes applications for vbulletin 4 is left out cold with there new way of doing betas. In fact if you ask me this whole vb 4 out the door from first beta to gold in 6 weeks was a bit rushed.

Only I did not upgrade as I checked to see if dependencies like vbgallery were compatible with vb4. Most of my hacks are still not ready for VB 4, so im staying put on VB 3.8.

Exactly most products are not ready for vb 4.0. They seemed to really rush this thing. I have never seen them put our a beta that only lasted 6 weeks and then get gold. I remember the old days when they had betas for months on end and everybody had access to the betas so products could always be updated

I agree with Chuck. They rushed the release to meet a published release date, and the gold release has lots of bugs. I recommend waiting for a couple of months before going live on a site with vB4 plus it will allow the third party developers like photopost to get their releases completed without bugs.

I will keep checking the site routinely to check for the update. |

Well the other 3 products since we use our own templates and admin panel all we really needed to do is check a few variable differences and load some table wrappers around our templates to make things work.
vbGallery requires a major rewrite of code.

Is it possible to somehow convert the vBGallery installation into Photopost Pro 7.0 so I don't lose any of the data/posts/pics etc that the ols vBGallery used? I want to quickly, if possible, restore my site's gallery that was used with the old vBulletin now that I have upgraded to vB4.0Gold. Any advice?
Thanks,
-Ed

If you have access in the members area to download Photopost Pro 7 yes you would install that and in the photopost import forum there is a script to use to import vbgallery to Photopost.

I skipped the vb3 integration since I am using vb4. This part about importing my current photos and such into the new install I did not see - admin panel somewhere?

| Photopost vbGallery to Photopost Pro Import Script
The importer is in the imports forum like noted. I would suggest you use vb integration because our product will use vb3 vb4 doesnt matter its all automatic in Pro.

Thank you for your help. I have got the script and ran it with no luck. In my old database (backup'd and restored to another database) I have the following example from a sql dump:
--
-- Dumping data for table `forumppgal_images`
--
Here is my vbag config: Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
Is this OK?

well only you are going to know if the sql is right not us.
I can tell you though your path to vbgallery images is wrong.
Are you pointing to vbgallery or photopost there
The vbgallery image directory is named files not data. Photopost Pros image directory is data.

Yes! I got it to work. The gallery looks a bit odd though. The imported categories are weird and no pictures - should I copy the pictures to the data directory by hand? I thought the script would have done it for me. All I have now is "no thumbnail" images all over the place |

You have no thumbnails because your image path was not correct as I stated above.
You can rerun the importer with the correct information to grab your images but the path you enter for your vbgallery files must be correct where those images are located so we can find them and copy them to photopost pro.

Thanks for your help.
I am lucky that there were less than 100 images and I tried so many combinations of paths with no success I copied them over by hand. For others with more photos who are in the same situation as I was in I wish them better luck with this script.
I like the enhancements the new pro version has. Great work guys!
As a follow-up I installed a plugin called vBH-Add new tabs that I used to make a link to the navbar at the top of vBulletin 4.0's interface.
Now my site is complete again and now I can start encouraging myself and others to continue to build the site.

Is there a thread anywhere discussing the status of vbgallery for vbull4? This one seems dead and the link above is not working for me. I have a major refresh planned for my site that is being held up, maybe I just need to go with photopost7? Is there a clean import from vbgallery to photopost7? Would I just install ppost7 on my 3.8.4 board, then import, then upgrade board to vbull4? At that point would I need to do anything major to then get ppost7 working with 4.0. If vbgallery for vbull4.0 is imminent I would prefer to wait but if it is 3 months off I doubt I can make that.

| vbulletin4.0
well there is the thread here and this one.
The official word a few weeks ago was we had hoped to have a beta out in a couple weeks. However I beleive with vb releasing 4.01 that deals with 200 plus bugs and 4.02 which is out very soon which is suppose to fix another 100 more bugs since the release of 4.0 a month ago they have had to redo alot of stuff once again which is delaying things. I have never personally heard of a software going GOLD with over 300 plus bugs but thats there own official release notes. Anyway I doubt its going to be 3 months till vbGallery for vb 4.x is available but right now there is no definative release date of a beta set. Once I hear something I will definately post it.
