need some ideas furing out cause of db error ok - I just migrated all of my data and databases to a new server I have photopost, reviewpost and classifieds. I exported and imported db's just fine and vbulletin - no problems when I try to access photopost I get: There seems to have been a slight problem with the database. Please try again by pressing the refresh button in your browser. An E-Mail has been dispatched to our Technical Staff, who you can also contact if the problem persists. We apologise for any inconvenience. ------------------------------------ the usernames and password for vb have not changed. Reviewpost and classifieds start fine and no error email si sent to my email address and email is working on the server. if there any way to change mysql or any other setting to display the error that's occurring. This is stunting my conversion progress. thanks in advance. ps: mysql 4.1.22 on the old server and mysql 5.0.45 on the new server pss: $VERSION = "6.11"; of photopost ideas? |
well have you proper installed photopost on the new server? That looks to be a vb error message not photopost so if you turn off the 3 vb3 define boxes in config-int.php what loads? |
thanks for pointers. here's where it get complex. I moved vb over first and upgraded from 2.6 to 3.8.4 and it's up and running I also changed vb to a new directory. 2.6 used to be in /upload and 384 is now in /forums. I went into config-int.php and changed the path name from /upload to /forums and now I get this error - I think we're making progress through. Fatal error: Call to undefined function gettemplate() in /usr/local/websites/mysite/photopost/header-inc.php on line 299 ps: I do not have any of the three vb3 define boxes set - they file is still all set for vb3 as is the field in the setting table in photopost thanks |
well quite simply you are integrating with the wrong forum right now ;) Rerun the photopost install script and reinstall into the same database tables but fill out everything and select vb3 not vb2 ;) |
chuck. I was simply trying to get the exsting version of photopost up and running before converting PP to the latest version. The Classifieds and Reviewpost products came up without any changes (in the same state as when transferred from the old server) without updating and I assumed PP would work the same way. So if you're telling me not to worry about getting PP running in it's present state and just to run the conversion tot he latest version and integrate with vb3 then that's what I'll do - thanks I will wait for your response before proceeding. thanks |
what I am telling you is you say you where integrated with vb2 and not vb3. If you want photopost to work right if you have changed your forum that photopost was integrated to another type then you need to reinstall photopost to integrate with that new type. Your not running vb2 which is the heart of your issue. |
10-4 - thanks |
one final question: should I change the config-int files to point at my new location for vb before running the upgrades on PP, reviewpost and classifieds? |
question and problem: I jut ran the upgrade and manually edited the config-int (new) file before the upgrade and changed to name so it would be read. The upgrade ran to completion (6.1 to 6.2) Your upgrade.txt file says the following: --------------------------------------- 1) Check for new config-inc.php variables, some recent additions are: $cookie_domain has been added for website cookies. I highly recommend setting this to ".youdomain.com" where yourdomain is the name of your domain. This will enable cookies to be read across your website regardless of the URL (i.e. galley.website.com and forums.website.com). If you are using a forum integration you must have this set in both your forums and photopost. ---------------------------------------- I could not find $cookie_domain in the file. Problem: I turned on all three vb3 options: define("VB3_INTEGRATION", 'off'); define("VB3_ENHANCEDINT", 'off'); define("VB3_COMMWYSIWYG", 'off'); and inserted my license number in the config-inc file PP6.2 comes up fine and displays, but thwn I click the admin button it takes me to a login screen and does not recognize my username and password. ---------------- thanks |
ps: never mind about the cookie doman stuff - I see it's in the settings table in each product and it is set properly in my case however, my login problem persists - so I'm kind of at a standstill right now before moving forward to upgrade classifieds and reviewpost |
You note you did an upgrade. Did you reinstall the products like I stated and select to integrate with vbulletin 3? As it stands right now if you did not your still integrating with vb2 which of course does not exist anymore. |
It never got to a point that allowed me to make any selections. I ran the upgrade.php script and select 6.1 to 6.2 and there were no screen display after it said to remove upgrade.php |
chuck - thanks for question - a light bulb went off and and I manually set the field in the settings table to vb3 and I'm into the admin screen now thanks |
LOL yeah rerunning the install would have done it ;) |
1 Attachment(s) I wanted to share this with you. This screen would leave most people confused about that to do: I upgraded my live site from 6.1 to 6.2 - Presented with this screen, how would a reasonable person assume to "complete" the upgrade? VB's upgrade screens have information about "please remove the upgrade.php file and click the back button on your browser" and so forth. This screen leaves you guessing as to that to do next. It says "before continuing" - that's great, but how to you continue? If you delete the upgrade.php file at this point - you're deleting the php program that your currently running. just my humble opinion. Jeff |
well the script tells you it is done and to delete upgrade.php so what is confusing? Just my opinion here. |
you wrote: LOL yeah rerunning the install would have done it I tried it - it did not. the script for reviewpost has a link to the admin page at the end - this does not. in addition the script for reviewposts has a heading that says photopost - so which one is it? Photopost or reviewpost? |
Not really sure what your talking about there you can provide an example nothing on reviewpost says photopost that I know of. The install if ran properly will update your site to integrate with vb3. If it doesnt then your not installing correctly. With over 40% of our customer base running with vb3 I know the install script works. ;) |
