Language in categories

I have run into a small problem.

My Icelandic letters do not show right but only in the categories and in admin?

Everthing is allright in vbulletin and on other pages.

I have marked the error in red and the lang strings that are ok in green.

Strange error??

Omegatron Classifieds - Main Index

I would suspect your tables are not UTF8 in the database. Really to support characters like that your tables need to be utf8 not latin encoding.

Try redownloading the build and run just upgrade.php not phrases.php

There are some queries in there to change the tables to utf8

I did extensive testing with your icenlandic russian arabic korean chinese etc and all work fine but of course my tables are utf8. My character encoding on my pages is also utf8

MySQL charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)
MySQL connection collation: utf8_general_ci

Tables are in collation: latin1_swedish_ci (And I know that is not the problem)

I have changed the tables to utf8_bin, utf8_general etc... and experimented with this in all ways I have edited the categorie names in mysql and they show right there and they show right in Pp admin after that but they do not show right on the page.

Screenshot shows text after editing in mysql and it show right in admin
you allso see all the nonsens that is printed.

No it wont work.

If I turn my vbulletin HTML Character Set to utf-8 that text shows right but everthing else in photopost and in vbulletin becomes unreadable.
See screenshot.

The categories and admin are the only place in photopost who are effected by this.

what I posted should work. I said if it did not you should send us server info to look at it. Photopost Pro does not claim to support icelandic so this is really above and beyond support but I dont have any issues helping out

This is my MYSQL info.

MySQL charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)
MySQL connection collation: latin1_swedish_ci
Tables are in collation: latin1_swedish_ci (And I know that is not the problem)

What server info do you want phpinfo, Headder info?

I can fix this by using code from this page. ISO-8859-1
ISO 8859-1 (Latin-1) Characters List

That is true but, Photopost claims it suports Multi-language

Other Features
Multi-language support via template files. Packaged with English, German, French, Swedish, Dutch languages

And the thing is I have the exact same setup runing at my own site with out this bug.

Icelandic has mostly the same letters as swedish and in fact I am using latin1_swedish_ci for my db collation So if I would write the categori name in swedish I would get the same error

So I tried the German word Österreich it shows like Österreich
The swedish words
Sök shows like Sök
Miljö och annat shows like Miljö och annat
Läs mer... shows like Läs mer...

This are languages that Photopost claims it suports and are not showning right.

You can take a look at it here. Forsíða - Sprotinn.is - Gallerí

This bug is inside admin panel and in categories.
I have no problem with vbulletin categories or admin panel.

Here is what I know

Language in categories

Your encoding must be set using that.

You must also properly load in both admin-inc.php file and the language file the encoding to UTF-8

You can also use the setnames to UTF-8

Your tables need to be UTF-8
