Login / Logout Issue. Possible Cookie Error

Greetings

We at perfectly captured are having a little trouble with our PHPBB 3.03 and photopost 6.2 integration.

We have set up the forum integration, and the session/cookie is able to pass from the photopost gallery to the forum perfectly fine, we are logged into the forum when we move across from the gallery.

However, when we move from the forum back to the gallery, the user is no longer logged in and has to re-authenticate. Our user base is getting slightly annoyed with this issue and we can not find out what is causing the issue. We can only presume a cookie integration problem. Our cookie settings are set as below:

[Photopost]

"PhotoPost Cookie Path" -> "/"
"Forum Cookie Prefix" -> "" (empty, blank, nothing in field)
"PhotoPost Cookie Domain" -> ".perfectlycaptured.com"
"Your SMF Cookie Name" -> "thisismycookie"

[PHPBB3]

"Cookie domain:" -> ".perfectlycaptured.com"
"Cookie name:" -> "thisismycookie"
"Cookie path:" -> "/"
"Cookie secure:" -> Enabled is ticked

Any advice would be apprechiated. Thank you

Regards

If your cookies are setup correctly then there should not be an issue however you do not want to use this

"Cookie secure:" -> Enabled is ticked

I do beleive they warn you in phpbb if you enable this you could have cookie issues.

The actual warning is :

"If your server is running via SSL set this to enabled else leave as disabled. Having this enabled and not running via SSL will result in server errors during redirects."

From what i know this secures the cookies using https whilst in transit from our server, to the clients. If possible i would like to keep this option on as it helps keep the cookies secure.

I will attempt this tonight and see what effect it has. Is there a way to keep this option available? and is there anything else wrong with the current settings that you can see?

Thanks for your time, and your amazingly quick response

well are all your urls running as https?

I am just saying this is the first thing I would check into

If your cookies are indeed set as you say then there should be no cookie issues as the cookie would be running on .domain.com which is all subdomains. usually people run into cookie issues when they dont set that and the urls change from domain.com and www.domain.com which of course is two separate cookies ;)

Hello Chuck!

This has solved our problem for the moment. If possible i would like to, at some point, incorperate the secure cookie script from the phpbb forum software into the Photopost gallery (or somthing similar to the script)

As i don't know how this script works (as of yet) or where it is, it will take me a while to figure out how to do it. However when i get round to actually doing and sorting it, if you would like i will post it here for yours / anyones usage.

Could i suggest that you add in your site cookies and login FAQ post that users make sure not to enable the SSL cookie encryption so that others can gain from this and not end up having to ask because of a similar problem.

Thank you very much for your time, we hope we won't have to bother you too much again.

Regards
