From everything I have read here, you seem to be the resident guru for photopost.
I have a board running an old 4.8c vs. of photopost. I did renew my access to the members area so I can download the latest vs. of photopost.
As you seem to be the absolute best on the board here, I'm curious what you would charge to upgrade my site for me. Not only does photopost need to be upgraded but also my old vb vs. 3.0.3, which is obviously quite old now. Of course I also have renewed my membership with vb so I have access to the new files.
The old vs. of photopost does not use the vbulletin integration script as we had our own custom written long ago. Same goes for vb.
I also have my new 'demo' site up n running with a bunch of photo's in a specific category that would also need to be 'merged' into the new upgrade, so it's more than just a straight upgrade, hence my message to you.
I know if you do this, it's probably gonna cost me, but I would prefer having someone who knows the system inside and out as I can't afford to loose the 250k posts and 22k members etc on the old site.

thank you for your time
shawn

old site needing upgrade is:
mysite
If you click on the top link 'prayer' that is vbulletin. If you go there, you will notice if you highlight a post itself that the 'path' is totally different than normal. We had a custom bridge written to link postnuke, vbulletin, photopost together. This was long before anyone was doing it. The bridge does not in any way effect the ability to upgrade photopost or vbulletin. It was custom code and the developer dropped off the net a very long time ago, which is why no upgrade for us yet. We're no longer going to use that bridge as now we don't use postnuke on the new site.

the other site is nothing more than my 'test' site that I have been working on for months now. It was a 'proof of concept' prior to my upgrading the main website. Instead of postnuke we're now bridged to wordpress through a wordpress plugin so there is no changes to any core files.

beta site
The nice thing about the new setup is that if I add a new article to wordpress it automatically creates the article on vb, hence 1 forum has posts.

I have also been using photopost on the temp site to store all my 'article pictures' for wordpress. that is why there is a gallery with pics.

basically I need to upgrade photopost on the main website, then import the new pics from beta site to main site.

I also need to upgrade vbulletin on the main site to newest vs. then also import the one category of posts from beta site into the new upgraded main site.

on my 'beta' site, I am using photoposts built in vbulletin hook to use vbulletin for registration etc. I want to do the same on the main site when it's upgraded.

It's not a huge job, but is definately more involved than a standard upgrade, which is why I was trying to hire you for the job.

Well your not going to be able to say import things as there are no import scripts for such a thing

What is not clear to me here is where do all your users exist on this site that needs to be upgraded? vb or postnuke?

I guess knowing what can and can not be done depends on what is going on in your site.

I will quote based on thinking these alledged users exist in vbulletin. This is just to upgrade these two applications here on the main site it has nothing to do with any beta site.

We can upgrade your vb and photopost for the following fees.

We offer a custom forum install/upgrade for 70.00 which is almost half of what vbulletin offers to do their install/upgrade.

We can reinstall/upgrade your old photopost to operate with your new vb 3.7 forum for an install fee which is 59.00 and can be purchased off our main site.

In the comments of that order meantion this thread and you want a forum install.

You are correct, all the users on the main site are in vbulletin. When we had the bridge written we decided at that point to use vb as the 'engine' for everything and adapted the other programs including photopost around it.

I have no problem with the prices you quoted. I was just wanting to make sure that you were the one doing the upgrade and not somebody from a foreign country that doesn't speak english, been down that route to many times.

After the 'generic' upgrades are done, is it also possible to import the vb threads and photo's from the beta site into the new one?

the reason I mentioned the beta site, is I plan on using it exactly as it is on the main website.

I have a generic plan of attack, which I'm not sure is the best way of going about it:
1. upgrade vb and photopost on the main website.
2. export the 'content files/pics' and db from upgraded vb and pp on main website to another folder somewhere.
3. move the 'beta' site to the new site, overwritting everything there, other than the folders we saved the files and db from old vb and pp.
(this is going to involve changing paths in a number of locations, but I should be able to do that no problem)
this way I get to keep the photo's and posts from beta site intact.
4. import the old vb and pp database and picture files into the new beta site so it's fully populated and ready to go.
(I'm not sure how to do this part, by import I guess I mean 'append' or 'add' the old db to the new one for posts/users etc.)
I took pretty good care to make sure that there are no usernames on the beta site that exist on the main site, trying to avoid conflicts during the 'merge' of the sites.

Maybe with this more information you can see why I was looking beyond the normal installation/upgrade and looking for the best person available for the job.

Both the sites are on the same dedicated server, and I do own it, so root is avail to work with. The db on the main site is way to big to save/move etc via phpmyadmin so shell has to be used, which I can provide.

I'm guessing this job is not going to fall into the standard upgrade pricing. Frankly I don't even know where the page is that your talking about for prices that I use to pay with.

thanks again

well regarding the beta site I am not aware as I noted of any import scripts avaiable to you that are going to merge content from two separate sites. That just does not happen that I know of.

major bummer LOL
Well I suppose I will just have to manually add the 186 posts and 62 photo's from the beta site to the new one once it is upgraded.

Ok I went to the 'payment' page and saw the upgrade button for photopost, but there is no button to click on to pay for vb upgrade that you spoke about. There is just a custom quote box that takes me to an email form.

Should I just send payment directly to you or photopost via paypal?

also, when is a good time for you to do this project?
I'd like to make sure that I am home with my chat box open just in case problems or questions come up. I am not home now but will be in a few hrs. Need to be there to get root info, ftp login etc, anyhow, as it's not stored on the computer here.

I do work once I get the necessary access's

As far as payment you purchase a photopost install not upgrade since we need to reinstall the application to actually integrate with vb and then you note in the comments section as stated in my prior post you want a forum install as well and reference this thread.

I will send any custom docs for the forum install/upgrade.

The cost for a photopost install is 59.00 and the forum reinstall/upgrade is 70.00 as noted.

Thanks.

sounds good.
I should be leaving here shortly and home in a few hrs. I'll send the payment then and contact you with login details etc. Then we can pick a time that works for both of us to do all of this.

thanks again
