| Having Installation Problem...
I'm having an installation problem... It's probibly something simple I'm over looking so here it goes...
I'm implementing Photopost Pro with my Vbulleting and am getting the following error...
Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user 'shoot191_bfs2008'@'localhost' (using password: NO) in /home/shoot191/public_html/mysite.com/photopost/pp-inc.php on line 194
I cannot connect to the Members database. []
Vbulletin: 3.7.3
Portal: Vbadvanced 3.0.1
Server Type: Linux
Web Server: Apache v1.3.37 (cgi)
PHP Version: 5.2.5
MySQL Version: 5.0.45
I am trying to set it up so it uses its own MySQL database using Vbulletin Software to handle logins etc...
Also I am not able to get into the Admin side of Photopost Pro yet... I hope once this error is resolved it will resolved itself...
I'm going to try to run install again using a different database and see if I have any further luck but I appreciate all the help forthcoming...
Thanks
Brian

You need to ensure in the config section of install you place the proper database settings under photopost section for the photopost database. You then put the vb database info under user database portion
The error you note means that the database info under user database is not correct for vbulletin.

| I can't...
I can't figure out why its saying I'm not using the password and I have the correct info in there... Is it possible something else I have installed on my Vbulletin application is fooling around with it...
I've not experienced a problem like this before...
Still this error...
Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user 'shoot191_bfs2008'@'localhost' (using password: NO) in /home/shoot191/public_html/beltfedshooters.com/photopost/install.php on line 1459
I cannot connect to the Users database.

No sorry thats the only problem it can be under the users database section of the config the information has to be incorrect.

| Well...
Well... I'm sorry to be such a pest... When all else fails just start over... I'm going to reload all my software and start from scratch... Obviously I'm not following the installation process correctly and like you said it has to be in the user section of the installation procedure I've tried working with that from every different angle and to no avail...
Appreciate all the assistance... I'll get it here eventually... |

Just make sure you use the correct database host user password and database name this information is found in the config.php file in the includes folder of your vbulletin install.

| Okay...
Okay little different error now...
It's still saying I don't have the correct information... I've checked it a couple of times now still no luck...
Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user 'shoot191_pbfs08'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in /home/shoot191/public_html/beltfedshooters.com/photopost/install.php on line 570
I cannot connect to the PhotoPost MySQL server. [host:$host][mysql_user:$mysql_user][mysql_password:$mysql_password]. Check your config-inc.php for the correct settings and rerun.
This is really strange...

Correct reverify the username and password host and database and replace the correct info. These types of errors all are the same mysql information is incorrect in the config.

| hmmm...
Hmmm... I'm never one to give up...
Okay take a look at what I have...
Here's what I have... I've edited the files so that I could do a clean print screen on my mysql setups instead of just typing out what my settings are...
databases.jpg shows the names of my database along with there associated user...
inc file settings.jpg shows how the current inc file for Photopost is setup on my end...
Vbsettings.jpg shows the names and users for the databases to coordinate with the photopost integration...

| Continued...
Cont'd
install screenpp.jpg shows the databases, usernames that I am trying to associate to coordinate the two programs together...
It looks like all of them match... Obviously the password (which is why I marked it N/A for the sample) is not the issue as in the previous error it stated it was using the password but was denying the user... I understand what you are saying that its a mismatch but I don't see whats mismatched it looks like I have it correct...
Another thing I want to add is that in the beginning when I began installing it and I would get the error saying it could not connect to the host database (database for my vb) I was trying to use the same username to access both databases... When I created a unique user for the vb database that resolved that issue I might create a unique user for the photopost database for the photopost database as the database is name shoot191_pbfs08 and the username is the shoot1919_pbfs08...
Well thanks for your assistance... I'm just trying to get this working on a friends website for him so know that your guidance is appreciated...
Thanks

Do it this way you know your vb database works right. Confirm its not the photopost database try installing Photopost into the vb database using your vb database info for both sections does the program install? if so then the issue is with your photopost database info permissions.

| Nope...
Nope... Used the Vbulletin database info in both sections and I get the following...
Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user 'shoot191_bfs08'@'localhost' (using password: NO) in /home/shoot191/public_html/mysite.com/photopost/install.php on line 570
I cannot connect to the PhotoPost MySQL server. [host:$host][mysql_user:$mysql_user][mysql_password:$mysql_password]. Check your config-inc.php for the correct settings and rerun.
Strange huh... I know the database for the Vbulletin is working as I have a test site running there now...

Are these applications on the same server?
Something obviously is a miss? Is there something weird about the password?

| Same....
Yeah they are in the same server and the same directory... I do have wild cards in use for the passwords... I'm game to try anything at this point... Like I said I'm going to give my database that I am using for photopost a unique username different from the database and maybe I'll change the passwords to not include the wild cards.
Your right something is amiss someplace... Gonna get it one way or another...

Make the password without wildcards and try to install.

| No wildcards...
No wildcards worked...
You can't use wild cards for passwords for either of the databases... Now I tried it a couple of ways but I could not determine whether or not you had to have a unique username for each database but its installed now...
So what we have now is the two databases with different names, different usernames and passwords with no wildcards...
So... That ends this chapter... Hey Chuck thanks for hanging in there with me... I new I wasn't crazy... |
