| 500 internal server error when registering new users
Just finished setting up my new photopost site, done some translating into norwegian and was working on the registering page. Here i encountered a problem.
After filling out the form and submitting it, i get a 500 internal server error. Quote: |
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
| Hit refresh and site says username and email is allready registered, true but no email has been sent. However the new user can log in, but i have to manually change the user to registered.
So far it looks like everything ellse is working as it should.
My web host does not provide error logs, so im a bit lost here.
Need more info? Please let me know.
Regards
Christian

url to your site would help.. Quote: |
The 500 Internal Server Error is a very general HTTP status code that means something has gone wrong on the web site's server but the server could not be more specific on what the exact problem is.
| you will need to see the error logs though.. i sugest you move host and i can host you.
hope you dont mind the plug.

I would suggest if you where editing files make sure to replace them with files we release and see if you can reproduce the problem with our files because I am not seeing any issues registered a user in our default code maybe something wrong with your edits?

Make sure to also reupload all the core php files not the config files through as well and any other files you might have edited.

Christian | Still the same result after removing language file, and reverting to default.
I will try to do a clean install on main domain, and not subdomain and see if that helps. If not i will just have to try to set it up at a server at work, to see if i encounter the same problems there.
Regards
Christian

Christian check out your server logs on that server or have your host do this and give us some feedback on what the server is choking on as noted by webdosser thats a real generic error from the server and hard to diagnose without more info.

Il give it one more try here, if still problems i will move the photopost site to a server of my own. A bit lesser bandwith, but a lot of more space.

Well... Did a full reinstall of the photopost. Unpacked from zip, cleared db and folders on server. Uploaded all files, did the install. So now its all default, still same result when trying to register new user.
Did however see something funny when i ssh`d to the server, got a bunch of mail saying: Quote:
A message that you sent contained no recipient addresses, and therefore no
delivery could be attempted.
| It looks like this is sent everytime i try to register a user, dont know if this is helpfull but...
Will try to do some more detective work here before i move to other server.
Regards
Christian

Christian | Hmmm looks like there is an issue with the mail settings, when i turned off the verifications by email, it worked.

Maybe your server disables the mail statement in PHP.

Still cant get this problem to go away, all i get is this: Quote:
A message that you sent contained no recipient addresses, and therefore no
delivery could be attempted.
------ This is a copy of your message, including all the headers. ------
Message-Id: <E1Kp9U0-0002mL-M8@luxor.domeneshop.no>

| I have tried to go thru some of the scripts, trying to find out where it get the recipient from and where it puts it. Im not that experienced with php and thats maybe why i cant find it. I would have tought that this was the codesnip to look for: Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
And i would guess that this: Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
is the recipient addresses, but i cant see where it get its value from. But then again as i said, im no php expert.
Im hoping to figure this out, cause i dont like the tought of running the site with no verifications...
Regards
Christian

$email is defined right in the script it is the one the user signs up with and the one we store in the users table email field.
