Upgrade of phpBB and Photopost Hi, I'm in the process of upgrading my phpBB forum from 2.0.21 to 3.02 and my PhotoPost Pro gallery from 4.81 to version 6.11. The PhotoPost installation uses the phpBB forum for user login authentication, but resides in its own mySQL database. The question then is, what sequence of installation is preferred? My plan is as follows: 1.Backup both mySQL bases 2.Shutdown the gallery and upgrade to version 6.11 3.Then upgrade phpBB to 3.02. But I then think I'll get in trouble as I believe the authentication in phpBB 3.02 is different, and also the table prefixes would change when upgrading the forum. I would appreciate any feedback that would help me upgrade as smoothly as possible :) Such as files to backup (not overwrite when upgrading) and so on... Thanks in advance. Anouar |
http://www.photopost.com/forum/photo...vbulletin.html 1. upgrade phpbb 2. upgrade photopost 3. follow the instructions above to switch integrations requires a reinstall |
Thanks for the reply. I would like to recap the procedure below just to verify that I've understood your instructions. 1. Upgrade phpBB to v3.02 2. Upgrade Photopost from 4.81 -> 6.11 by copying the installation files excluding the config files. Run upgrade.php 3. Run install file after upgrade (or can I change prefix when upgrading PP in step no.2) 4. Do I have to run any userfix script? Regards, Anouar |
That looks correct. You should not need to run the userfix script but it will not harm anything if you do |
Hi. I've now tried to perform a test upgrade in my WAMP test-system locally on my PC. The upgrade of phpBB 2.0.21 to 3.0.2 went smoothly, but I've run into some problems with the PhotoPost upgrade. I'll try to explain :) 1.I restored the MySQL base to my local WAMP installation. 2.I changed paths and other settings in the Settings table. 3.Changed DB-parameters in config-inc. Couldn't find config-int (I have 4.81 of PP) 4.Copied the filestructure from the live site down to the folder in my WAMP 5.Copied all files from 6.11 folder to the local site (http://thermal/galleri) 6.Started upgrade by launching a browser at http://thermal/galleri/update.php 7.Started upgrading from 4.82 as it was the next version number.. 8.Progresses to 4.85/4.86 without errors 9.The next window which appear is the 5.0->5.1 upgrade. 10.When I start this step I'm redirected to page which says "preparing for database update" and shows several PhotoPost logos upon each other. Finally it times out. 11.Do you think this is related to the WAMP installation, or am I missing something here? Regards, Anouar |
Not sure what a wamp installation is Just try running through the upgrades once at a time. You can run the 5 through 6 upgrades more than once if they dont run just dont run the 485 one again. So you choose not to reinstall but manually change things. As long as you run all upgrades you should be fine |
WAMP is a Windows Apache MySQL PHP suite which makes it possible to install websites on a PC for testing purposes. I just like to test things in advance if possible.. I'll try to start from scratch with the PhotoPost upgrade on my WAMP installation. If it doesn't succeed, I'll just try the procedure on the live system. Thanks for the help! Regards, Anouar |
Not a problem enjoy your weekend |
Still trying to install PhotoPost 6.11 in my testsystem on my PC, and I just have a few questions. 1.In the footer of PhotoPost it says 4.81, but in my settings table, ther version number is 4.5... Why? And should I use 4.5 as a starting point for upgrade? 2.When I come to the upgrade from version 5, I get a page with a PhotoPost banner which keeps adding popping up... Is this some kind of progress bar? 3.Is there any possibility to track the upgrade process in the database, or in a log-file? The reason I ask is that the installation seems to time out (or at least the browser stops after a while..) And since you mentioned I could repeat the upgrade process from v5 an upwards, it would have been nice to track the progress. 4.If I cannot test the upgrade procedure in my test system, where should I send my request for installation help, and how fast do I get help :) |
1. It does not matter if you begin at 4.5 go for it just do not run 4.85 more than once. 2. what do you mean keeps popping up? 3. Just go through and run each upgrade once 4. If you wish us to perform an upgrade you may purchase an upgrade service from our online store and they are usually done within a day or next day |
