Error when try to run install.php

Have installed PhotoPost Pro at my website Into The Glue
PHP, MySQL and GD versions all meet your requirements.

Files installed in public.html/photopost. Directories set up per instructions.
(vBulletin, vBadvanced CMPS and vBadvanced Links Directory are in their own folders under public.html)

Get the following error when trying to open install.php in my browser (IE7)
*********************************************
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@intotheglue.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I checked that config-inc.php has permissions of 777 (it installed as 644 so I changed it to 777). Note that config-int.php installed as 644 and I have not changed its permissions since there is no instruction to do so.

I have not edited config-inc.php. I was going to do this via the install program.

Note: config-inc.php and config-int.php both had further extensions of .NEW. I deleted the .NEW portion (although this is not in the installation instructions). Let me know if I should restore these extentions.

Recommendations?

Thanks - Jim Smith

You would remove the .NEW extentions and those files should be 666 not 777

Try seeing if install runs after doing this. you might need to check that install.php is 644 or whatever permissions your host requires for php to run on the server. Your host should also have a more indepth report on what the real issue is on the server error logs.

Thanks! That fixed it. Some suggestions for improvements to the Installation Instructions (http://www.photopost.com/installphp.html)

In the directory structure information:
photopost directory - no permissions specified
languages - "(a" - should this be deleted?
stylesheets - loads from the zip file as 755 instead of required 777
templates - loads from the zip file as 755 instead of required 777

Instructions say all permissions for (all) .php and .sql files should be set to chmod 644. Your instructions above indicate 666 for the config-inc.php and config-int.php files.

I believe install.php loaded differently than the 644 you indicate above, but I didn't make a note of what it was.

The instructions don't mention removing the .NEW extensions from config-inc.php.NEW and config-int.php.NEW

Under the instructions for the web installation script:
It says if you get an error, it is probably because the config-inc.php should be set to 777. (That is why I set them to 777.) As you indicated above, these should be 666.

Not a bad install, but these updates to the installation instructions would have made it go easier and avoided having to involve you.

Thanks - Jim Smith

well I can see about getting those changed. Now just a note they where not talking the stylesheet or templates directory but the actual stylesheets templates themselves. All 777 permissions except data and uploads should be 666
