PHPBB3 to Vbulletin

Has anyone upgraded from a PHPBB board to Vbulletin with the gallery? Are there any known problems such as getting the database to work correctly?

I am switching from PHPBB3 to Vbulletin in a couple weeks and want to be able to continue using the gallery as it is without losing any photos.

There are several threads here on "switching integrations" which should help you.

Essentially there are several steps you will need to do like reinstalling to integrate with vb instead of phpbb3 and realigning userids via a 3rd party script I have around here but its possible.

Ok thanks. When the time comes I'll look around and if I can't find anything I will give you a shout. Just as long as I can keep the photos already uploaded.

Can't wait to use VB

I don't think most would consider changing from PhotoPost Pro to vbGallery to necessarily be an upgrade. PhotoPost Pro has more features and is the better product IMO.

Check this link if you haven't already:

Didn't see that link, thanks.

Looks as if I'm better off with pro then. I wasn't sure if vbgallery was better

So is this what I would need to switch integration?

Reassign userid's when switching integrations to VBulletin

what I understand is that I have to uninstall photopost then reinstall it?

Could you give me a rundown on what I need to do?

I was going to integrate it with vb first then run impex to import the users, would it be better to import the users first

I would follow the exact steps outlined in the several threads on here

Switching from phpbb to vbulletin

That script you linked is the last step correct to fix photo userids since vb impex will change the phpbb userids

I have just switched to vbulletin from phpbb3 and went to integrate with photpost with vbulletin as described as above and in the other posts.

In vbulletin (board is still closed off) I click on the photo gallery link and then I have to sign in again but it tells me this

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
When I ran the install.php I chose external registration as it stated to do with vbulletin. There is no login.php file on the server or in the photopost zip file.

Not sure what the go is here

Well a url would help here

Like for example if the login thing is in the footer in some custom style you may need to correct that relative file link to full url

If your locking guests down for viewing any content on your site without being logged in then your using vb standard error templates and same thing need to correct those relative file links to full urls. We dont load or use vb templates and they are notoriously known for using relative urls and not prefixing any link with their forum url which in my mind is a bug but when your the biggest guy in town you can do what you want.

Yeah make sure to edit your standard error templates in vb and correct those relative links to full urls
