server moving admin issue

ohhh help! I was doing so well following the instructions in How to Move Servers and/or Change Directories

got to step 9--when I opened edit config, the info was not right so I changed it. That took me to an error:
Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user 'newdatabaseinfo'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in /old path/public_html/gallery/pp-inc.php on line 200
I cannot connect to the PhotoPost database. [$php_errormsg]

where my new database info wont work with my old path. thinking it might be because I have not pointed my name to my new ip address and I confused it (and myself), but I cannot get back into admin and have no clue what else to do to fix it.

any help is greatly appreciated.

That error suggests the database info you are entering is incorrect.

You would need to place the correct database information for the photopost database where asked in both places or if using a forum your user info where it asks for that database info as well.

This means

database host

database name

database user

database password

One of those is incorrect that you are entering in your config file

thanks for helping. I am trying to backtrack and see where I can get back online.

I thought I was working on my new server using my dedicated ip number, but at some point it switched over to my existing gallery and I ended up changing things in both. neither one is working.

going to try to repair my current one first. I went into config-inc.php and reset for my current database. I am sure the info is correct, but I am now getting this:

Warning: require(/NEW PATH/gallery/languages/english.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in OLD PATHpublic_html/gallery/pp-inc.php on line 176

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/NEW PATHpublic_html/gallery/languages/english.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /OLD PATH/public_html/gallery/pp-inc.php on line 176

I can see where that both error messages reference that my old site and new site are crossed in there, but have no clue where to go to start fixing. would appreciate any advice to get me back on track. thanks!

darn. I cannot figure out how to restore my existing gallery.

am sure the config file is correct as I uploaded my backup which should have restored me to before I started moving and changing things.

suggestions?

Okay looks like your path in config-inc.php for $PP_PATH is wrong you cna update that to the new path and you should be fine. Make sure to also update the data and uploads paths in admin global options and storage options per the thread you linked and you should be fine. Once you fix the path in the config your site should be up and allow you to login and fix any remaining paths discussed in that thread.

*slaps self in head and gives you a big hug*

how could I stare at that all night and skip the paths line? lordy. Thanks so much, Chuck. Now I have my old gallery back up and running. Making an extra back up and heading to start the move to the new server again.

*crosses fingers.
