PhotoPost 6.1 RSS Issue

Hello Chuck,

I finished an upgrade from 6.02 to 6.1 on a newer site (it has only one image) and noticed that the RSS links in Firefox didn't work properly until I turned off spider-friendly URLs in the admin area.

I am running vbSEO, and overcame the spider-friendly issue by placing a htaccess file in my PhotoPost directory with this line:

RewriteEngine Off

It worked with 6.02, and technically works the same with 6.1, but the new RSS feeds aren't consistent until I turn off the spider-friendly feature in PhotoPost.

well what is your issue? I dont use vbseo so I am uncertain what your problem is

Our rss link in the browser should link like so

PhotoPost.Com

We run vbseo here and our link seems to work

My Apologies.

One example would be clicking on the RSS icon in Firefox and the album displaying an error message that the photo doesn't exist.

Another would be clicking on the same RSS icon and it doesn't display an RSS feed at all, just reloads the web page (category view or photo view).

Both of these issues would resolve themselves if I turn off the Spider-Friendly URL feature in PhotoPost. Again, this is a site in development, there is only one picture uploaded to the default albums that are created after the initial install.

I could be mis-interpreting what the new RSS features are, but I see the same errors on your site that I was experiencing on my own.

In Firefox, PhotoPost displays an error that the picture cannot be found ...

In IE, I am presented with one of the built-in white error pages; Internet Explorer does not support feeds with DTDs.

However, if I turn off the spider-friendly URL feature in photopost, then the RSS feature works in either browser. I can PM you the URL to my development site with a working example.

Does this make sense?

I do now as well, in both regular and rss. On your site the RSS links directly to the viewed image. On my site, a personal album will send me back to my primary rss page.

It has been a while since this was posted. Has there been a fix since this thread was started?

Not that I am aware of which is why I was asking if you still had an issue since I did not see any issue. Glad you got it sorted though.
