Unable to open PP Index page

Upgraded from PP 5.3 to 6.02 successfully today.

Quote:
Admin · Home · Search · Profile · Upload Photos · Logout
Each of the options above works fine on my installation, except for the HOME LINK. It leads to

http://www.site.com/photo/

and not

http://www.site.com/photo/index.php

So, it opens a 404 page. It was working fine before the upgrade though. Every other option looks good.

I only hit the PP index page now by clicking on the MAIN SITE MENU that has the full url. http://www.site.com/photo/index.php

Any suggestion, guys? I reuploaded the file to no avail. I must be missing some small thing. That PP home page link is so useful...

Thanks.

How would have give an error going to your site without index.php? You do not have a directory index set on your server like if this is windows you tell it when it goes to a directory in IIS to look for index.php as linux is automatic.

You can edit the topmenu function in pp-inc.php if you wish and alter the link to add index.php back in but personally I would see why your server can not pull up your site without an index defined.

See, this is why I sometimes have issues with you and your responses. I asked a question politely, explaining my problem politely. My explanation looks pretty clear and it honestly shouldn't cost you anything to give help without underhanded attempts at ridicule.

I have no idea what you mean up there, sorry.

I am on Linux. To make this issue clearer, the PP index page appears/opens IF IT IS INCLUDED IN THE URL. If it isn't, it goes to a page not found blank. Have you - as Helpdesk, ever experienced that? If not, there's always a first time and this could be your chance to learn about this kind of issue. What could be the problem? I just need you to steer me in the right direction, since it was perfectly fine until I upgraded to the latest version. That does not mean it is a PP issue, but I have to ask nevertheless.

When you say "back in", does that suggest it was there before, but is no more there in the latest version? I looked at my Reviewpost and Unused Classifieds Installation within the same domain and the HOME link calls the index.php page directly, so it does imply you guys dropped the direct call to the index.php page in this latest version.

Not sure again what you mean here, but if you mean you can't see why my server is suddenly unable to automatically call an index.php page, it is calling the index page without a direct URL within the VB and Vivvo directories without any problem. I tried my RP installation without the full url (with Index included) and I got the same error page though. Its obviously happening only within your products ON MY SERVER.

I am looking for a solution please. Thank you.

I see the Topmenu function, but I'm not sure WHERE/HOW EXACTLY to make this change.

Thanks.

There is no reason why this does not work on a linux system or any other properly setup server. The index.php was dropped in favor of spider friendly urls and that such customers wanted. Now if your on a linux server I would suggest you check your htaccess file in your webroot and make sure you have this in there and the page should load fine.

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
Now as far as if you want to go back to legacy code sure edit topmenu function and add this in bold where noted approx line 3100 and a little way down you will see the other HOME link as well.

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
