| SQL connect error
Sorry, posted this in the wrong place.
Hi:
Just upgraded to 6.01 from 5.6 and everything appeared to go fine. Only problem is I get this error when I click on a thumbnail in the gallery: Warning: mysql_fetch_row(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/birds/www/www/photopro/showphoto.php on line 83
Also I get this error when I try to access the admin control panel: Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql5.sock:3306' (2) in /home/birds/www/www/photopro/pp-inc.php on line 200
I cannot connect to the PhotoPost database. [$php_errormsg]
Clearly I am not connecting to the db but can't for the life of me figure out why.
I recently migrated the db to mySQL5 but didn't have any problem. I am using the db host name recommended by the hosting company instead of localhost.
Thanks.
Cal

You need to use the valid mysql information to connect to mysql and it appears with that error your information is indeed incorrect. Editing the config-inc.php file with the proper info would stop your issue.

| sql connect error
This is what my ISP says I should use and that's what I am using--
Local (web applications): Host: localhost | Socket: /tmp/mysql5.sock
Note: Most PHP applications/scripts will accept the following syntax:
MySQL Host: localhost:/tmp/mysql5.sock
I am using the part in bold.
Can you see any part of that syntax that is wrong?
Thanks.
Cal

| back to mySQL4
I went back to mySQL4 and can connect to the database now. Most everything works except I am missing a category and I get this error:
Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/birds/www/www/photopro/pp-inc.php on line 1143
Warning: mysql_fetch_assoc(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/birds/www/www/photopro/pp-inc.php on line 1147
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Cal

| Fixed it
Didn't have vb integration turned on and then just turned off category cache and everything works fine.
Would still like to get mySQL5 db working but that's something to hash out wit my ISP.
Thanks.

I have started to get the same problem as above once I upgraded to mysql5. I must have the same hosting provider, because I have exactly the same recommendation in place of localhost. All of my other applications work just fine after the upgrade and using 'localhost:/tmp/mysql5.sock' in place of 'localhost' for the database connection. Only Photopost is not working.
My error message:
Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql5.sock:3306' (2) in /home/dba/www/www/photosdba/pp-inc.php on line 200
I cannot connect to the PhotoPost database. [$php_errormsg]
The path has never changed, only the database.
I need help resolving this.

I would suggest in our config file you make sure the configuration info entered to connect to the database etc has not changed. what you have in that file is incorrect.
