Using mysqli in vb 3.6 gives PhotoPost errors

Everything is fine when we use 'mysql' as the database type in vBulletin. When we switch it to 'mysqli', the Featured Photos (in forumhome) generate a series of errors that begin with this:

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
As soon as we switch vb back to mysql from mysqli, the featured photos in forumhome work fine as usual. Running PP 5.5 and want to get this resolved before we buy our upgrade license to 6.x. We are using PHP 5.2.4 and MySQL 5.0.27. PP and vb are in the same database. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

well I know we do not support mysqli but offhand have you tried filling out the mysql connect and mysql select db lines in that file with the proper info?

Didn't even notice those. Yeah I'll just use that way. Obviously that will do that job. Thanks for the reply, Chuck. Looking forward to the upgrade soon.

In case anybody's interested, here's the workaround I did (only works if vb and pp are using the same database). In inc_features.php, I changed all the mysql_ calls to vbulletin's built-in database class, so all the mysql_query calls become $db->query_read, mysql_fetch_row becomes $db->fetch_row and mysql_free_result becomes $db->free_result. This way it uses whatever method vbulletin is set to use (in my case, mysqli).

Enjoy and yes nice way to do it although uncommenting the normal lines in that file and placing the proper info should also work since mysql is also installed on the server.
