PP Install hangs at step 4

I'm installing a new photopost gallery and can't get past step 4. I check the values (tried the forum location with and without a trailing slash) and when I hit "configure photopost" it simply hangs. I get a blank white screen, no error message, nothing.

I even deleted the database and started over from scratch, same result.

What am I doing wrong?

HMM Interesting you should get something. It sounds like a timeout yet there is nothing that should time out.

Check to ensure your user database config information is correct in the first step. That your config files are 666 permissions.

Then lets see where you get.

I tried everything. Deleted the database and started over. Deleted all the files and started over. Checked and double checked database names, user names and passwords. Checked and double checked permissions as well. Consistently got to step 4 and then blank white screen.

I even tried installing photopost without the external user database, it went a bit further, seemed to install, but the gallery would not open. I got the same white screen.

Finally, in frustration, I deleted it all and installed version 5.62 instead. (I own multiple licenses of PP, and had a copy on my hard drive.)

It took me less than 15 minutes to configure, upload and install, and worked just fine the very first try. Forum integration works fine too.

My conclusion? My server's not happy with something in 6.01... Sorry I can't offer anything more specific.

Of course the other, just as likely, possibility is that I had some setting or permission wrong, and 5.62 is simply more forgiving of whatever it was.

cool yes it does indeed. Your config-int.php file is corrupt. Probally got whacked on upload. Upload a clean file to the server and see if that helps here.

Chuck,

That's kind of what I was guessing looking at the log files. I hadn't even installed it yet, so I didn't think to try messing with the config-int file, I thought I'd get it running first.

I also re-uploaded the files and tried again, but if I managed to tweak the config-int file when I edited it, I would have uploaded the same bogus version the second time. I probably left out a quote mark or something like that. I had double checked that stuff in the config file, but I thought the config-int wouldn't affect things until I turned on the integration. Of course if it's reading the file to see if the integration is turned on or not, and can't read it... D'oh!

Meanwhile, as I said, I got things up and running under 5.62. I'll try upgrading at some point, but right now it's more important to me to get this thing online and working. Since I've already tuned the installation to my liking, and uploaded some images, it would be a lot of extra work to do a clean install with 6.01 right now.

well you dont need to tweak the files. You just need to upload clean files and run the installs and input the proper info and the install will edit the files correctly.

OK, so it's been a few versions since I read the installation docs in detail.
