| PIC.bmp: Uploaded file not found
Hi,
We are having trouble uploading BMP file types it seems. We get the error: PIC.bmp: Uploaded file not found
Typical reason is that the file exceeded allowed limits.
However, the files being used are small, way below the large file size cap we have, and I know bmp is properly added as an allowable file type.
It's as if bmp is not supported or something. A user just tried to load it and got that error, so I tried, and got the same error.
I think Chuck upgraded me a few months ago. I am not sure what my imagemagic or whatever it is called is set at or what I have to change to be able to use BMP files.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!
- Frank

well bmp is only allowed in imagemagick if your using GD2 you can not do bmp. If this error only happens with a bmp then yes sounds like an issue of it not being supported.

Thanks Chuck - how do I make my photopost gallery software support bmp? How do I check what I am using and how do I change it?

Do you have root access to install Imagemagick? If not maybe you can get your host to install it.

So all it takes is my host having it installed? No setting in my photopost software? I will ask my host if it is installed, then.

well you need to set the correct path in the config to mogrify and then set your processor to imagemagick under global options.

When I edit config I see:
/usr/bin/mogrify in the Path for MOGRIFY executable field.
In Global, imagemagick is already selected in the drop down menu of selections.

Okay for some reason then no bmp support was installed. So only thing I can suggest is they recompile Imagemagick.

CHuck, they said imagemagick is installed. When I asked if my server had it enabled, the tech said "It doesn't need to be "enabled" for you. It is standard on all of the servers." So, it is on. But photopost Gallery will not take BMPs!

In your Photopost Admin is your processor set to Imagemagick. There is no issue with the software here if bmp does not work. It would be your server side Imagemagick install that much is sure. I have Imagemagick installed and bmp upload fine on my site. GD2 does not support bmp to my knowledge.

In Admin > Global Options, Imagemagick is selected in the dropdown and has been. Quote:
Imaging Integration (IM or GD)
Select ImageMagick or GD1/GD2 for image processing
| So if that is what you are referring to, yes, it is set. I am inquiring further with my host.

Chuck where EXACTLY do I set the PATH to Imagemagick? That might be the problem, my host says. They said it should be "/usr/local/bin" but I am not sure where to look for that.

If you have your processor set to Imagemagick in global options and uploads work then you dont need to go any further.
You set which processor to use in Admin => Global Options.
You enter the path to mogrify in Admin => Config Settings
Your path entered should be
/usr/local/bin/mogrify

Chuck, just to be clear, earlier in this thread I posted that I had the following settings: Quote: |
/usr/bin/mogrify in the Path for MOGRIFY executable
| Then, just now, I went to go change it to what you just said, which adds the word "local:" So, it is now set to exactly, literally, these words (I assume you meant "local" literally): However, when I went to go upload a BMP I still get this error: Quote:
PIC.bmp: Uploaded file not found
Typical reason is that the file exceeded allowed limits.
| I don't know what to do at this point. My host said: Quote:
There is no difference between your hosting and anyone else. Everyone has exactly the same. Its not like we compile a new "hosting package" for each account. The server has items installed on it and every account on the server has access to them.
Make sure you have your path to imagemagick correct, it should be: "/usr/local/bin"

Well Photopost does not control anything when it comes to processing of images. We can not control what types of images your server can handle. All we do is take an image that you upload send it to the servers image processor to be resized and then we store it in our data directory and insert a record in the database. The entire image manipulation is up to the processor not the program. Your server will process what types it can process. If bmp files do not work you can remove that as an acceptable image type in Admin => Upload Options.

I fixed it. I figured out what the problem was.
There are two areas you enter file types. One set for multimedia and the other for images: Quote:
Acceptable multimedia file types?
Seperate file types by a comma and include the . (example: .mpg,.wma,.asf,.mp3)
Acceptable image file types?
Seperate file types by a comma and include the . (example: .jpg,.gif,.png)
|
I had BMP in BOTH multimedia and image types. When I deleted it out of multimedia, the problem went away.

So you essentially confused the program as to what the file was. Got ya cant say in all my years here I have seen that happen.

Thanks for your help walking me through. Yes, do note that if the same file type is in both places it may be a problem!
