Upgrade, Server Move & Domain Change... I just want to preface by saying that I have searched the forums for this answer first and didn't come up with anything that quite fit all of my situation. Chuck, you and I had discussed this about a month ago but I'm trying to learn more about how all this works before I bug you for paid install support. ;) Here's the situation: I currently have Photopost 5.6.2 installed at http://www.turnwood.net/Photopost/ We are moving our website from this host to a new one and using a new domain. I have installed Photopost 6.0 on the new server http://www.woodturnersresource.com/wrphotopost/, verified it's working but I can't quite figure out what the next steps are. I have seen threads mentioning moving the database, running upgrade scripts, etc but want to make sure I'm doing everything correctly and in the right order. Any advice (even if it's "this is over your head") would be appreciated. Thanks, Chris |
Hello Well you would need to move everything the database photopost directory etc. Set all your permissions like it is an install and then since you are are changing domain names I would suggest you run install.php and pretend its a new install. Basically this will update your paths and urls to the new ones. You can upgrade either on the old server before moving or upgrade on the new server once you get it installed properly there. http://www.photopost.com/forum/photopost-pro-how-do-i/130048-how-move-servers-change-directories.html http://www.photopost.com/installphp.html |
