Issues With Installing Hi everyone, my name is Mandy and I'm trying to install PhotoPost Pro onto my server. I was able to install the vb forums by myself after a few minor issues (due to my inexperience), but after seeing how this software was supposed to be so easy to download/upload I figured I'd give it a shot. I have to say it was much more complicated than I expected! Some of the file names that I downloaded weren't correct from what I could tell. Like the config-inc.php.NEW and config-int.php.NEW. I didn't realize that I'd have to change the files to be config-inc.php and config-int.php in order for it to work. I don't remember reading about this step in the installation process. So, I had to edit a few different files (I think the index.php and install.php files) to read the files with .NEW at the end so that they'd communicate correctly. Then during the intall process I had to go back in and rename them once again because the install process would only recognize these files without the .NEW at the end. Was I wrong to rename these files and edit those files in my directories? After all of these changes I was finally able to figure that part out and I got through the install process, but now I'm getting a new error about a global.php file. I've looked through my directories and can't seem to find this global.php file. Can anyone tell me where it is and what I have to do to fix it? I'm so confused and frustrated. :( This is the message that I keep getting now... Note that I substituted my user name where it says xx. Warning: require(./global.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/xx/public_html/photopost6/header-inc.php on line 53 Warning: require(./global.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/xx/public_html/photopost6/header-inc.php on line 53 Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required './global.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/xx/public_html/photopost6/header-inc.php on line 53 Is it possible that I downloaded the wrong file to begin with and would it be ok to remove the software from my FTP to start all over again without getting into trouble for having more than one license on my site? I really only want this one, but I want to do it right and I'm stuck right now. :( Thanks, - Mandy |
You need to run through install correctly with the .NEW removed from the files. Make sure to enter the correct config details for the proper databases for each product and on step 4 of install select vb3 integration fill out the right info there mysql table prefix for vb and cookie prefix which is bb by the way. You then go to the last step and this is where your last mistake was. It asks for the server path to your vb forum. This was not entered correctly on the install and you can rerun through the install and correct or edit your config-int.php file and change the $vbpath line to the correct path to vb on your server. This should get you all set. |
Thank you Chuck. I appreciate the help. I'm going to give it another go. Keeping my fingers crossed it'll work this time. Just out of curiousity, why do the file have .NEW at the end when it shouldn't be there in the end? The forums didn't have this problem. |
Well, it appears to be working now!! I'm so excited, I can't wait to get started with it now. :) |
No problem you have a great weekend. The files have .new on the end so users dont accidently overwrite their configs when they do an upgrade. |
