No there is not. People have complained about text links for years, we now have gotten rid of those so they are gone. As you hover over the icons you should see what each is for.

Thank you Chuck. I am aware that you can hover, but the icons that have been used are a little ambiguous. I will take a look at how the code is done and see if I can't change them back to text myself or create images that represent the true intent of the link better.

Okay no problems yes you may always do that. Its real simple just standard img tags versus a language string.

Though I can imagine some will like the icons, I also prefer the text links, especially the ones below showphoto.
The reason is that it is easier/quicker to read a text link than to have to hover on the icon to figure out what it does.
It's also easier to explain these functions to a member when the links are as text.
This is why, even as with this forum, some links include the words in the icon (New Thread/Post Reply/Edit etc etc) as just an image with alt text would still confuse many.
We could come up with text based icons but this brings up the issue (being frugal about resources) that a text link uses less resources, even though I Idon't really know how much these icons add to a page.

Anyway, it would be nice to have an admin option - text or icon links

Barring this we will be wanting to turn these icons back to text links and and I'll be referring my partner CaroleM to this thread for advice on how to do this.

BTW, I see 2 icons at showphoto that don't show alt text
- tag this thumbnail for category index (bottom far right)
- see users gallery (at far left below username/location/posts)
(we have changed this phrase to "See my gallery" and will also want to change this back to text as well)

Thanks

I prefer to see both icons and text but that's a personal preference and I am willing to edit.

BTW, which template/s do I edit? Couldn't seem to find these icons on showphoto.tmpl.

Thanks.

Thanks Chuck. Done editing.

BTW, I agree with mjm. Maybe in future versions we will have a choice to display 1) icons only, 2) text only, or 3) text and icons .
