Errors with fresh install on Win 2003 Server I'm trying to perform a fresh install of photopost 5.62 onto Windows Server 2003/IIS & am receiving multiple errors. I feel part of this stems from the path information being entered wrongly, but despite my best efforts & multiple attempts at installing photopost, i'm still no closer to getting it to work, or finding out what the correct path is (i'm new to windows servers, having only used linux/apache in the past - no problems getting photopost to run there). Firstly, would someone kindly tell me if this looks like what the correct server path should be: D:\home\Default\site\htdocs\photopost (or, should I be using forward slashes? photopost puts the path in as above with back slashes, but i've read here & on other sites that they should be forward slashes?) or, should it be something like: /site/photopost ? Secondly, I always receive this error on step 5: Warning: mysql_fetch_row(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in D:\home\Default\site\htdocs\photopost\forums\vb3.php on line 515 I have searched this forum & I take some solace from the fact that others are having this problem too, but without knowing what the proper server & windows file path should be to enter into the install script I doubt i'll get it working. I note that windows/iis servers need extra permissions on the data & upload directory too? I think I know how to do that, but I didn't see it mentioned in the installation guide, does this extra step have to be taken to ensure photopost works on my windows server? Any pointers or advice would be gladly received. |
Like so D:/home/Default/site/htdocs/photopost That should be the right path use forward slashes because you can not use backslashes in mysql they are removed. |
Thanks for the speedy reply Chuck, photopost installs without any errors now i've got the right file/server path, but when I attempt to login as an admin I receive the message about "not being a valid administrator". photopost lets me login normally so I assume that it can see my vb tables in the database ok. I've read a few posts here relating to the admin error & i've tried stuff like setting mysql not to run in strict mode, clearing cookies, etc & I still receive the error. As my installation of photopost is at least sort of working now I dont wish to reinstall it again, where should I be looking to further troubleshoot this admin permissions problem? (i'm using vbulletin 3.6.5 intergrated with photopost, mysql 5, php 5.1.2) |
On install rerun make sure you do several things here. 1. On config screen make sure to put in your correct vb3 license number and in user database portion put your vb database info. 2. On step 4 select vb3 from the dropdown and enter the mysql table prefix and cookie prefix usually bb where asked. You then go through and complete the install and you should be fine to login without issue. I suggest also when your all done that both cookies on photopost and vb3 be set like this cookie path / cookie domain .domain.com cookie prefix bb |
It's almost all working now Chuck thanks to your instructions, I had to play around with the paths a bit, but photopost now works beautifully on my new server. My final problem relates to Imagemagick. When I tried to upload an image to my gallery I received the "cgi misbehaved error" I cant recall exactly what it said but after searching this forum I realised it's something to do with imagemagick not having the correct permissions (gd2 works fine) Is there a reason as to why I should use Imagemagick over GD, or should I just leave it be? |
