Install.php not working

Hi there...

I am trying to install PP, and I get the following error when accessing the install.php file.

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@hissyfit-inc.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

The error log describes: Premature end of script headers: /home/hissy3/public_html/gallery/install.php

I have no idea what it could be.

well thats a very generic error. You may need to view the server error logs for more info on the true error to post so we can assist.

I would suggest that you remove the .NEW extention off your config files and set permissions per the install instructions and then try running install.php

Hi there...

All the permissions have been set as in the instructions. I have tried the install.php with editted config-inc and int with the "NEW" removed. No matter what I do, I get this error.

The only error my logs show is:
Premature end of script headers: home/hissy3/public_html/gallery/install.php

The server is a shared one, accessible via cPanel. Unless I am going nuts, the server meets the requirements for install. PhPinfo

My process for install was:
1: Upload zip.
2: Extract on server into a directory via cPanel
3: Check and adjust permissions.
4: Edit and rename both config files (777)
5: Move directory to public_html

install is located at:

Your config files do not exist is the error I see. You need to remove the .NEW extentions off the config files so they read as config-inc.php and config-int.php

Whether or not the files are there or not makes no difference. Whether or not the files are renamed, editted, permissions set etc, makes no difference. I have tried a few combinations to see if I can figure out where the error lies.

Ftp details:
user: photopost@hissyfit-inc.com
pass: photopost

You help would be appreciated.

You will need to ask your host if they can give you a more specific error. A server error 500 is the most generic of errors

Unzipping the archive on the server gave all files the correct usergroup info, so that was fine.

Nearly all the file/folder permissions were correct as well. Only two folders and the config files needed to be dealt with.

However......

There were three files that did not have the correct 644 permission. Once I discovered them, the installation was 100%.

My trap was that the archive unzipped with almost all permissions ok. Bad error on my part.
